Build Disciples

3 Areas We Need Discipline In: Spiritual Health, Mental Health, and Relational Health.
But before we dive into Spiritual Health
We are going to read an intense Scripture: About True and False Disciples:
Matthew 7:21-23
I Never Knew You. Away from me you evildoers!
a. But I preached and taught the Youth Group about you. - But I went to Church - But I thought about you a-lot.
Spiritual Health
Are you Spiritually Healthy?
How close are you with God?
- Closeness with God
This is our core and Top priority in life.
INTRO:
Jesus is our Prime Example: His Life demonstrated the importance of an intimate relationship with the Father.
What an example He set for Us to Follow!
“And after he sent away the crowds, he went up on the mountain by himself to pray. So when evening came, he was there alone.” Matthew 14:23
“And getting up early in the morning while it was very dark, he departed and went to a deserted place, and there he was praying.” Mark 1:35
a. During His time on earth, Jesus made it a priority to be alone with God.
Withdrawing from friends and family and spending time with Father alone.
Jesus had a desire to Connect with His Father.
Do you have a desire to connect with God?
If you don’t desire to connect with God, the desire to connect is connected somewhere else.
Reverting to what the world is doing. TIK TOK, GAMING,
IT IS STEALING FROM YOU TO FIND YOUR PURPOSE
“If I don’t connect with God, then I can’t connect with my purpose. If I don’t connect with my purpose then I can’t connect with the people that are placed in my life for my purpose.” - Adam Lykins
b. He wants to speak to you. He wants to tell you the plan and purpose you have.
TRANSITION:
I started dedicating two days a week where I stay up late to write my prayers. I don’t go to bed with my wife. I pray and write my prayers down.
THE LORD GAVE ME TWO VISIONS
2. “For I know the plans that I am planning concerning you, declares the Lord, plans for prosperity and not for harm, to give to you a future and a hope.” Jeremiah 29:11
IF YOU PLAY A SPORT AND WERE ON A TEAM, WOULD YOU NOT TALK TO THE COACH?
I would need to talk to the coach so I can know the plays for the team. He would teach me how to be a better athlete.
If I don’t talk to the coach I don’t know the plays and I become the athlete on the field/ court who has no idea what he is suppose to do.
Many Christians are like this. Why? Because they haven’t got with the coach/ Jesus and talked to Him and learned from HIM.
a. When we get alone with God to open His Word, Talk to Him, and Listen. He gives us Wisdom.
“But if any of you lack wisdom, you should pray to God, who will give it to you; because God gives generously and graciously to all who ask Him.”
James 1:5
If you don’t know what to do you should be asking God.
If you don’t know your purpose you need to be asking God. Not looking at TIK TOK videos to see if
The problem is we rely on people to hear from God rather then getting in a room by yourself and relying on God to speak directly to you.
b. It Teaches Us To Learn How to Trust Him.
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart, lean not on your own understanding. Acknowledge Him and He will direct your path.” Proverbs 3:5-6
So many times I want to do the wrong thing when life gets hard things happen. - But Trusting Him allows me to do the right thing.
Don’t Cut Corners and Compromise.
Don’t settle for the easy things and don’t settle for what everyone is doing.
Instead of praying and Talking To Him. Watching TIK TOK bible vids. Or ill just listen to a devotional.
Compromise can Ruin the Connection.
YOU HAVE TO HEAR FROM GOD ON YOUR OWN!
When I was homeschooled growing up we Ran a 1 mile race. I got 1st PLACE every-time because I cheated. I CUT CORNERS.
Then A day came to TEST at the end of the year. And I got 3rd PLACE
Setting in the Worldly things can take us out of Position for Our Purpose.
OUR PURPOSE IS FOUND ONLY WHEN WE TALK WITH HIM.
