to bless (favor) — verb. to invoke (or enact) divine favor, often implying a positive disposition or kind actions toward the recipient.

to curse (invoke harm) — verb. to invoke divine harm or evil upon someone or something.

to bless (verbally) — verb. to speak words of excellence about.

to be praised (of a deity)

Seven Hebrew Words for Worship

1) HALLAL

is a primary Hebrew root word for praise. Our word "hallelujah" comes from this base word. It means "to be clear, to praise, to shine, to boast, show, to rave, celebrate, to be clamorously foolish."

2) YADAH

is a verb with a root meaning, "the extended hand, to throw out the hand, therefore to worship with extended hand, to lift the hands." According to the Lexicon, the opposite meaning is "to bemoan, the wringing of the hands."

3) TOWDAH

comes from the same principle root word as yadah, but is used more specifically. Towdah literally means, "an extension of the hand in adoration, avowal, or acceptance." By way of application, it is apparent in the Psalms and elsewhere that it is used for thanking God for "things not yet received" as well as things already at hand.

is derived from the word halal and means "the singing of halals, to sing or to laud; perceived to involve music, especially singing; hymns of the Spirit or praise.”

God moves in when you prepare the throne room in advance in spite of your circumstance

Unquestionably, one of the most remarkable and exciting things about honest and sincere praise is taught here: praise will bring the presence of God.

Although God is present everywhere, there is a distinct manifestation of His rule which enters the environment of praise. Here is the remedy for times when you feel alone, deserted, or depressed. Praise! Let this truth create faith and trust, and lead to deliverance from satanic harassments, torment, or bondage. However simply, compose your song and testimony of God’s goodness in your life.

The result: God enters! His presence will live (take up residence) in our lives. The Hebrew word translated “inhabit” means “to sit down, to remain, to settle, or marry.” In other words, God does not merely visit us when we praise Him, but His presence abides with us and we partner with Him in a growing relationship.

Today, let us invite God’s presence into our immediate situation. He wants to come and abide where we are right now!
