Introduction:

Most people are unaware of the influences of a demonic presence over mankind in our world today

we go through this world with spiritual blinders on

this morning I would like to remind you ultimately who is in charge

How many of us have a neighbor that drives us up a wall?

For all you know, the devil could be living right next door you

in the early 70’s I experienced Satan living next door to me

The shield of faith blocks all of the fiery darts of the enemy

The title of our teaching this morning is

The Armor of God

Ephesians 6:13 NKJV

13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

I. Prayer is Part of the Armor of God.

To believe the impossible one must first see the invisible

This is the lesson that Elijah Taught his servant

The text involves war between Israel and Syria, and the prophet Elisha informing his people of the enemy's tactics through prophetic insight

Prayer is the key to discerning our adversaries's plans.

Prayer is one of our weapons when putting on the armor of God.

The Bible said that Elijah prayed and asked God to show his servant another miracle.

He asked that his servant could see into another dimension.

II. What’s With All This Armor?

No one ever faced a more formidable human opponent then did David when he squared off with Goliath

Goliath stood over 9 feet tall (9'6) He weighed at least 400 pounds.

He wore metal underwear weighing 125 pounds,

his spear was about 14 feet long, and the iron point was almost the weight of a college shot put.

1 Samuel 17:5 NKJV

5 He had a bronze helmet on his head, and he was armed with a coat of mail, and the weight of the coat was five thousand shekels of bronze.

In other words, he was clothed with scaled body armor

2. King Saul was thinking in the natural when he gave David his armor,

chest size, David was a 42 and King Saul was a size 50.

So David politely return the armor back to Saul

You know the rest of the story

3. David was victorious that day because of two things:

He set aside conventional armament,

and he chose dress and weaponry suitable for battling his unique foe.

III. We Need Armor For Our Battle

We fight an enemy whose troops are far more capable and lethal than the Philistine giant

If for sixty seconds we could see their size and ranks —

General Satan, his cosmocrats, their lieutenants and foot soldiers

we would never again rely on conventional methods and would flee to God’s armory for instruction and outfitting

We would be the first in line to put on the whole armor of God

Conclusion

Next week we are headed to the armory so that we can become armed for the battle.

Were going to get suited and put on the whole armor of God.

Unlike David who fought a physical Goliath, our weapons of warfare will be able to take down principalities and powers and rulers of the darkness of this age.

Our weapons are going to allow us to advance against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.

With the weapons that God provides we will be able to stand our ground in these evil days.

We will go over instructions each week on different parts of the armor

Next week will begin with the belt of truth. Paul says, “stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist.”

Ephesians 6:14–18 (NKJV)

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness,

15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace;

16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one.

17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—

16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

Three reasons why you need Jesus

Jesus loves you! He desires to have a relationship with you, and to give you a life full of joy and purpose. Why do you need him in your life you may ask?

1. Because you have a past. - You can’t go back, but He can. The Bible says “Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and today, and forever” (Hebrews 13:8) he can walk into those places of sin and failure, wipe the slate clean, and give you a new beginning.

2. Because you need a friend - Jesus knows the worst about you, yet he believes the best. Why? Because he sees you not as you are, but as you will be when he gets through with you. What a friend!

3. Because He holds the future - who else are you going to trust? In His hands you are safe and secured - today, tomorrow, and for all eternity. His word says “For I know the plans I have for you, plans for good and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. In those days when you pray, I will listen” (Jer. 29:11-12)

If you’d like to begin a personal relationship with Jesus today please pray this prayer

Lord I believe that Jesus is the son of God, and that He died On the cross for my sins and His resurrection from the dead gives me eternal life. I asked forgiveness of my sins, and I Except Jesus as my Lord and Savior. Amen.
