Religious Rebuke. (v. 23-24)

A. The Narrative.

1. Jesus and His disciple are walking through someones grainfield.

The Disciples begin to pluck the heads of grain.

B. The Religious Reaction. (v. 24)

1. The pharisees accused the Disciples of Jesus of doing what is unlawful”.

a. This was in no way a violation of the Law.
Deuteronomy 23:25 ESV
25 If you go into your neighbor’s standing grain, you may pluck the ears with your hand, but you shall not put a sickle to your neighbor’s standing grain.

C. The problem with these Religious Pharisees is they held their traditions equal to scripture.

Righteous Response. (v. 25-28)

A. Jesus Reminds them of the witness of Scripture. (v.25-26)

1. Jesus took them back to 1 Sam. 21:1-6.

B. Jesus Reminds them the of the true purpose of the Sabbath. (v.27)

C. Jesus Reminds them of His Authority. (v.28)
