English Standard Version (Chapter 42)
The LORD’s Chosen Servant42 Behold my servant, whom I uphold,my chosen, in whom my soul delights;I have put my Spirit upon him;he will bring forth justice to the nations.2 He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice,or make it heard in the street;3 a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench;he will faithfully bring forth justice.4 He will not grow faint or be discouragedtill he has established justice in the earth;and the coastlands wait for his law.5 Thus says God, the LORD,who created the heavens and stretched them out,who spread out the earth and what comes from it,who gives breath to the people on itand spirit to those who walk in it:6 “I am the LORD; I have called you in righteousness;I will take you by the hand and keep you;I will give you as a covenant for the people,a light for the nations,7 to open the eyes that are blind,to bring out the prisoners from the dungeon, from the prison those who sit in darkness.8 I am the LORD; that is my name;my glory I give to no other, nor my praise to carved idols.9 Behold, the former things have come to pass, and new things I now declare;before they spring forthI tell you of them.”

Uphold: literally ‘grip fast’. The idea is not so much of imparting strength as of the Lord’s rights over his Servant and his determination to keep his Servant for himself.

And when he came up out of the water, immediately he saw the heavens being torn open and the Spirit descending on him like a dove. And a voice came from heaven, “You are my beloved Son; with you I am well pleased.”

And when Jesus was baptized, immediately he went up from the water, and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and coming to rest on him; and behold, a voice from heaven said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased.”

Verdict handed down by the judge (2 Kings 25:6) Then they captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah, and they passed sentence on him.
Whole court process (Is. 3:14) The Lord will enter into judgment with the elders and princes of his people: “It is you who have devoured the vineyard, the spoil of the poor is in your houses.
Gracious and merciful judgement of God (Is. 30:18) Therefore the Lord waits to be gracious to you, and therefore he exalts himself to show mercy to you. For the Lord is a God of justice; blessed are all those who wait for him.
The Nations - Not just the Jews
The Nations - Not just the Jews
seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him?
and in your offspring shall all the nations of the earth be blessed, because you have obeyed my voice.”
I will multiply your offspring as the stars of heaven and will give to your offspring all these lands. And in your offspring all the nations of the earth shall be blessed,
He calls to the heavens above and to the earth, that he may judge his people: “Gather to me my faithful ones, who made a covenant with me by sacrifice!” The heavens declare his righteousness, for God himself is judge! Selah
Arise, O God, judge the earth; for you shall inherit all the nations!
We give thanks to you, O God; we give thanks, for your name is near. We recount your wondrous deeds. “At the set time that I appoint I will judge with equity.
For not from the east or from the west and not from the wilderness comes lifting up, but it is God who executes judgment, putting down one and lifting up another.

So gentle He wouldn’t break an already damaged reed
So gentle He won’t put out the flame of a nearly-burnt out wick
When he was reviled, he did not revile in return; when he suffered, he did not threaten, but continued entrusting himself to him who judges justly.
