What's in a Man's/Woman's Heart
“And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.” (Mark 7:20–22, ESV)
“For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:21, NIV)
“Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God.” (Matthew 5:8, NIV)

“And he said, “What comes out of a person is what defiles him. For from within, out of the heart of man, come evil thoughts, sexual immorality, theft, murder, adultery, coveting, wickedness, deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride, foolishness.” (Mark 7:20–22, ESV)
“Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle (meek, peace loving) and humble (lowly, not proud) in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” (Matthew 11:29, NIV)
How do we reshape Our Hearts
How do we reshape Our Hearts
““Teacher, which is the greatest commandment in the Law?” Jesus replied: “ ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: ‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’” (Matthew 22:36–39, NIV)
There is a deeply rooted and undeniable purpose placed in our hearts, put there by our designer;
There is a deeply rooted and undeniable purpose placed in our hearts, put there by our designer;
IS IT;
a) A muscle (pump) to deliver life giving blood to our body's organs & extremities
b) Motives, will and emotion = To express and receive love; without limit, without flaw, without fear of failure, without end....
TO BE COURAGEOUS = To take the next step in the extraordinary adventure that the free expression of love is.
THIS IS NOT to be confused with "free love" of the 60-70s = love without boundaries, but IS love without expectations or conditions.
Will - a definite but intangible link between heart & mind, can be in conflict.
WHAT DOES THAT LOOK LIKE?
For the boys/men = Raw power - passion - freedom - takes courage /can be costly = Braveheart
David - A man after God's own heart -
for the girls/ladies - rather than incriminate myself with my way inadequate thoughts on this matter, I'd like to ask the girls & ladies present to contribute?
(PS Men now is a good time to start taking notes).
for the girls/ladies = amazing mix of Intentional power with skillful gentleness - care (mother bear)
Prov? A man's heart plans his way but the Lord determines his steps - God living in your heart is the only way to have life and have it to the full.
John 3:16 - God so loved....
"Wild at Heart" auth: John Eldredge - is a great exploration and expression of a man's heart, which includes good insight into his woman's heart too. But also open our perception of our designer's heart, and how He made us in His image. A must read for men and women in the 21-120 bracket.
“You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways. Before a word is on my tongue you, Lord, know it completely. You hem me in behind and before, and you lay your hand upon me. Such knowledge is too wonderful for me, too lofty for me to attain. Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you. For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place, when I was woven together in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed body; all the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. How precious to me are your thoughts, God! How vast is the sum of them! Were I to count them, they would outnumber the grains of sand— when I awake, I am still with you. If only you, God, would slay the wicked! Away from me, you who are bloodthirsty! They speak of you with evil intent; your adversaries misuse your name. Do I not hate those who hate you, Lord, and abhor those who are in rebellion against you? I have nothing but hatred for them; I count them my enemies. Search me, God, and know my heart; test me and know my anxious thoughts. See if there is any offensive way in me, and lead me in the way everlasting.” (Psalm 139:1–24, NIV)
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.” (2 Corinthians 12:9, NIV)
“This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers and sisters. If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person? Dear children, let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth. This is how we know that we belong to the truth and how we set our hearts at rest in his presence: If our hearts condemn us, we know that God is greater than our hearts, and he knows everything. Dear friends, if our hearts do not condemn us, we have confidence before God and receive from him anything we ask, because we keep his commands and do what pleases him. And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to love one another as he commanded us.” (1 John 3:16–23, NIV)
““Well said, teacher,” the man replied. “You are right in saying that God is one and there is no other but him. To love him with all your heart, with all your understanding and with all your strength, and to love your neighbor as yourself is more important than all burnt offerings and sacrifices.”” (Mark 12:32–33, NIV)
