I had struggled with this class
Ephesians 2:8–10 ESV
8 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, 9 not a result of works, so that no one may boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
May Christ be all and I be nothing:
On Golden shores of sure salvation, I will run to meet my king
Freed from shame and all accusation, he’ll give Himself—nothing I’ll bring
This passage is so deep and full of many truths
- We see what sin had done to us at the beginning of this passage.
Separated us from God (Dead in our sins)—v.1 — Made us alive with Christ (v.5)
It made us disobedient to God (v.2-3)-
It made us follow the wrong things (3)
All of this leads to what Christ has done for us through His work on the cross
He loved us (v.4)
He made us alive (v.5)
He exalted us (v.6)
He Keeps us (v.7-9)
My worth is not in what I own—keith getty
My worth is not in what I own Not in the strength of flesh and bone But in the costly wounds of love At the cross
My worth is not in skill or name In win or lose, in pride or shame But in the blood of Christ that flowed At the cross
Two wonders here that I confess My worth and my unworthiness My value fixed, my ransom paid At the cross
At the cross we see a great exchange. The sinless son of God died, rebels lived. It’s not a fair exchange, but it’s grace.
I rejoice in my Redeemer Greatest Treasure Wellspring of my soul I will trust in Him, no other My soul is satisfied in Him alone
