RESCUED FROM DOUBT

DEVOTIONAL READING :Isaiah 38:16-20

16  O Lord, by these things men live,

And in all these things is the life of my spirit:

So wilt thou recover me, and make me to live.

17  Behold, for peace I had great bitterness:

But thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption:

For thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.

18  For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not celebrate thee:

They that go down into the pit cannot hope for thy truth.

19  The living, the living, he shall praise thee, as I do this day:

The father to the children shall make known thy truth.

20  The LORD was ready to save me:

Therefore we will sing my songs to the stringed instruments

All the days of our life in the house of the LORD.

Matthew 14:22-33
King James Version (Chapter 14)

22 And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away. 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone. 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? 32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God

verse 22

And straightway Jesus constrained his disciples to get into a ship, and to go before him unto the other side, while he sent the multitudes away

jesus is telling his disciples to go into the boat to go to the other side of the lake while he disperse the multitude he did all of this to actually be alone .(Jesus loved to be alone so that he could talk to his father about a lot of things. this is one thing jesus always did but his disciples ask him no question on how he was going to get to the other side they did what he ask of them. and this is something we should learn to do . do things without a lot of question) i have that problem . then jesus got rid of the multitude also having them to leave by just asking them to leave because he knew that they were full and needed some rest so it would not be hard to get them to go to their homes to rest . we do the same thing when we are full all we want to do is sleep after a good meal.
verse 23 And when he had sent the multitudes away, he went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, he was there alone
now that the crowd had gone to their homes jesus went up on a mountain to pray and be alone ,being alone for jesus is so that he can talk to the father who knows maybe the father was answering him right then and there so it was like him having a conversation with God… that's why he wanted to be alone.....Jesus always was in prayer compare Luke 5:16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
.
verse 24 But the ship was now in the midst of the sea, tossed with waves: for the wind was contrary. now while jesus was having his alone time the ship that the disciples were in was having a little ruff waters and the the was being tossed around (compare mark 6:47) (sometimes our lives can be like that boat in ruff waters getting tossed around but we do have someone we can call on to help and that's Jesus amen)
verse 25 And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them, walking on the sea. but in the book of mark he saw it a different way in mark 6:48 48 And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary unto them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh unto them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them. in Matthew it does say that jesus saw them only that jesus walked toward them on water all this was taking place just before dawn all while the boat is being tossed around by the strong winds”
verse 26 And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit; and they cried out for fear. the disciples once they saw someone walking on the lake(water) they got a little nervous they thought they were seeing a ghost so they cried out in fear scared of what they were about to encounter not knowing who it was (can you imagine seeing someone walking on water right before the sun comes you would be afraid too, am i right?)
verse 27 But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid.
So if you notice that hurried up and identified himself to the disciples so they would not be afraid of seeing a ghost but that it was him they saw .. ( now when we are afraid of something let go and let Jesus be the one that you see in times of despair and not be scared )
verse 28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. even though jesus told that it was him here comes to ask to come and walk on water with him was peter having doubt or was he just trying to be a good follower and asked jesus if would bid him to come and walk with him on the water? more then likely it was being a good follower.
so in verse 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. so as you can see here Jesus called him to come and walk to him on the water. just to go to him(jesus) so he got out of the boat to go to Jesus and this is the power of christ to make it so that peter could walk on water and believing like he did diffidently walk to Jesus. ( so our understanding should be that being a follower of Christ we can do anything through Christ . so we don't have to worry whats in front of us just keep the faith in christ so that we will be able good things . it may not be walking on water but it will be something spectacular .
verse 30 But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.
now is where the doubt comes in you see all was good when the water was quite but once peter got to Jesus and the wind picked up he forgot all about who he was with and focus more on the trouble at hand instead of who he was with and started to sink (see matt 26:69-75)
( i get like that sometimes too get into a situation where there is no win and loose all hope of survivor and not focusing on from whence my hope comes from i start to sink its like giving up ,so don't give up stay on the faith that is given to you through Christ and he will make it alright.) but you can rest assure that when the time comes you will be calling on Jesus to help we all do it .! see matthew 8:25And his disciples came to him, and awoke him, saying, Lord, save us: we perish.
verse 31 And immediately Jesus stretched forth his hand, and caught him, and said unto him, O thou of little faith, wherefore didst thou doubt? also in Matthew 8:26 And he saith unto them, Why are ye fearful, O ye of little faith? Then he arose, and rebuked the winds and the sea; and there was a great calm. even Jesus told them about their little faith they had once you loose faith you will sink.
so let us not not give up on faith keep the faith no matter the turmoil because God will see us through. because Jesus knew that they had faith but when it came to that time in the ruff waters he still came to their rescue.
verse 32
32 And when they were come into the ship, the wind ceased. see how Jesus saves peter in the storm not after the storm thats how christ is he will save us in a storm or in bad situations not afterwards christ is the one to save us from all things , we need to always have confidence in beliving that see hebrews 1:2-3;3:6

2 Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; 3 Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high

6 But Christ as a son over his own house; whose house are we, if we hold fast the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm unto the end.

verse 33 Then they that were in the ship came and worshipped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.
now the disciples truly worshiped Christ as being the one with Gods power in him and through him is this power! that they witness and the disciples just kept worshiping and acknowledging the one that Can do all things through the Father. and they knew that Christ was the son of God with great understanding see john 20:31 And many other signs truly did Jesus in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book:
so if you have any doubt the truth is in Christ the son of God Amen.
remember to try and not loose faith in the all mighty, the trinity the father the son and the ho;y spirit Amen
