Jesus directs them to the boat - No Why

John 6:14–15 ESV
When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, “This is indeed the Prophet who is to come into the world!” Perceiving then that they were about to come and take him by force to make him king, Jesus withdrew again to the mountain by himself.
Why doesn’t Mark give us a why to explain how the story is progressing?

Someone Greater that Moses… and friends is here.

Recap Moses and Exodus motif that we saw in the feeding of the 5,000 that quickly gives way to God himself being their shepherd. Jesus then goes up a mountain alone to pray.... mount sinai anyone!?
Mark 6:48 ESV
And he saw that they were making headway painfully, for the wind was against them. And about the fourth watch of the night he came to them, walking on the sea. He meant to pass by them,
Exodus 34:6 ESV
The Lord passed before him and proclaimed, “The Lord, the Lord, a God merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness,
1 Kings 19:11 ESV
And he said, “Go out and stand on the mount before the Lord.” And behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind tore the mountains and broke in pieces the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. And after the wind an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake.
Job 9:11 ESV
Behold, he passes by me, and I see him not; he moves on, but I do not perceive him.

He Has Come - Emmanuel

Mark 1:1–8:26 Commentary

The enormity of this should not be missed. Here, and in his ministry generally, we see a “new thing,” to use the words of Is 43:19, being done in and by Jesus. In him and in his ministry, Israel/his disciples/we are confronted with a literal instantiation of the OT words of description and promise as they relate to Yahweh and to his deeds. Yahweh says that he himself will be the shepherd of his sheep (Ezek 34:15), and so Jesus literally is (Mk 6:34). Yahweh says that he himself will lead his blind people on the way to Jerusalem (Is 42:16; 48:17; 52:8), and so Jesus literally does (Mk 10:32; cf. 8:18; 10:52). Yahweh is described as walking on the sea and passing by unrecognized (Job 9:8, 11), and so Jesus literally does (Mk 6:48). In him is actually the full-fillment of the OT story, history, and hope.43
