The God I Never Knew

II. What Do I Want Them to (Know) (Feel)

A. Lawyer: Jesus doesn’t challenge his interpretation but his application. Who is my neighbor?

1. Being born is how we exist, living with purpose is how we live.

B. God was a good neighbor to us by sending Jesus.

1. He was willing to open his heart.

2. He was willing to offer his help. Even though there was a risk to himself. Jesus doesn’t avoid us but he approaches us. Initial injury compounded by others lack of compassion. (invite to church or watch tv with you, Blair’s ferry mom and daughter watch and talk about it.)

3. He was willing to open his hands. Thing that was of use to him became a source of healing for someone else because he was compelled by compassion. The cross, we extend out.

C. Like Jesus we must embrace a hurting world. That comes with a cost.

III. What Do I Want Them to Do/How-

A. The inn was a hotel and hospital. What if we saw our buildings as hospitals that the hurting knew that they could go to? I believe the church is called to be a house of healing for a hurting world. Even our new building, no one ever said hospital too big!

4. A House of Hope: Life-Giving & God Focused Hebrews 11:23-25
