Under Spiritual Attack
You Know there’s spiritual attack when there’s opposition from the enemy to keep you from living out your faith.
1 Peter 5:8 Stay alert! Watch out for your great enemy, the devil. He prowls around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour.
1Thessalonians 2: 18 For we wanted to come to you—certainly I, Paul, did, again and again—but Satan blocked our way.
When we as believers live out our faith, that communicates failure to the enemyWhen you live out your faith you Dismantle the enemy’s lie. John 8:44 Genesis 3:4-5
Your being deceived to sin
The devil is subtle - Genesis 3The devil is relentless - Job 1The devil is persistent - Mathew 4The devil prays on you - 1 Peter 5:8
1 Chronicles 21:1-4 Satan rose up against Israel and caused David to take a census of the people of Israel. 2 So David said to Joab and the commanders of the army, “Take a census of all the people of Israel—from Beersheba in the south to Dan in the north—and bring me a report so I may know how many there are.” 3 But Joab replied, “May the Lord increase the number of his people a hundred times over! But why, my lord the king,
do you want to do this? Are they not all your servants? Why must you cause Israel to sin?”
1 Chronicles 18 -20 records Davids major military victories
You might be deceived to sin when things are going well
Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart;
do not depend on your own understanding.
6 Seek his will in all you do,
and he will show you which path to take.
David leans on his own understanding
2. You are distracted from God
Hebrews 12:1-2Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. 2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.
The Story Of The Sage
Jesus Visits Martha and Mary
Luke 10:38 As Jesus and the disciples continued on their way to Jerusalem, they came to a certain village where a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. 40 But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”
41 But the Lord said to her, “My dear Martha, you are worried and upset over all these details! 42 There is only one thing worth being concerned about. Mary has discovered it, and it will not be taken away from her.”
3. Feeling discouraged, defeated or depressed
Romans 5;171For the sin of this one man, Adam, caused death to rule over many. But even greater is God’s wonderful grace and his gift of righteousness, for all who receive it will live in triumph over sin and death through this one man, Jesus Christ.
4. Feeling Condemned
Mark14:64 Ye have heard the blasphemy: what think ye? And they all condemned him to be guilty of death
Condemn - to pronounce guilt and a punitive sentence on someone in a legal context
To know or observe wrongdoing with disapproval or condemnation
1 John 3:20 For if our heart condemn us, God is greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.
John 3:17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
Glatians 6 Brethren, ||if a man be overtaken in a fault, ye which are spiritual, restore such an one in the spirit of meekness; considering thyself, lest thou also be tempted. 2 Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. 3 For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself.
5. Loss of spiritual desire
Spiritual Apathy -typically happens the there is some sort of disappointment or you just being lazy
disappointment—— John 11:20 Then Martha, as soon as she heard that Jesus was coming, went and met him: but Mary sat still in the house.
Lazy ——-Hebrews 5:12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat. 13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe. 14 But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.
6. Lackattack
Judges 6
7. Disturbing thought life
Romans 12:1-2
