Train Up Your Spirit (K. Hagin How You Can Be Led By The Spirit, pg.128)
Galatians 5:16-26
Can we teach ourselves to be led by the Spirit? With God’s help, yes!
1. By Meditation in the Word of God
a. Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.
b. The training of anything is done through much study.
2. By giving the Word of God first place
a. But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; Matthew 6:33a.
b. I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. 2 And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. Romans 12:1-2.
c. Start here, not with vain philosophies or false and watered-down doctrines of man.
3. By Practicing the Word of God
a. Do what it says: Philippians 4:6-8 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. 7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.
4. By instantly obeying the voice of your spirit.
a. After his conversion, the Bible says, And straightway he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. Acts 9:20.
b. In Acts 8:26-39 is the story of Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch in which the Angel of the Lord moved Philip to “go.”
c. Pay attention when your spirit checks you. If you feel it is of God, and you know it not to be contrary to the teaching of the Bible, then GO.
i. Somethings we learn through trial and error – the hard way even.
