Outline

Everyone is sexually broken (Matthew 5:27-30) and in need of redemption
True freedom isn’t found in doing what we feel is right and best, it is doing what God says is right and best:
Our hearts mislead us (Jer 17:9)
"True freedom is doing what you want to do and not regretting it in 1,000 years." — JohnPiper
Sin turns us inward on ourselves so that we are a slave to loving ourselves, rather than loving God, which is actually the least loving thing we could do to ourselves
Augustine quote: curved in on themselves
Rom 1:22-32
Jesus came that we would have life and have it abundantly (John 10:10, James 1:15)
The thief, Satan, comes to kill and destroy. To deceive us. He has been a murder since the garden, he doesn’t stand in the truth because there is no truth in him. He lies and deceives us, because he is the father of lies (John 8:44). He leads us astray with deceitful schemes, trying to toss us to and fro by the waves and carry us about by every wind of doctrine, by human cunning, by craftiness and deceitful schemes (Eph 4:4)
What is sexuality
Sexuality is a central aspect of being human throughout life and encompasses sex, gender identities and roles, sexual orientation, eroticism, pleasure, intimacy and reproduction. Sexuality is experienced and expressed in thoughts, fantasies, desires, beliefs, attitudes, values, behaviours, practices, roles and relationships. While sexuality can include all of these dimensions, not all of them are always experienced or expressed. Sexuality is influenced by the interaction of biological, psychological, social, economic, political, cultural, ethical, legal, historical, religious and spiritual factors.
God’s design (Gen 2:18-25, Prov 5:15-20), which both Jesus and Paul affirm.
