so This Morning we are going to be looking at Change.
So what does the word change mean to us as Humans?
Make (someone or something ) different; alter or modify
Replace (something) with something else, especially something of the same kind that is newer or better; substitute one thing for (another).
Mankind has always live with the fact that everything changes at one point or another in our daily lives. no matter what it is. Like our Jobs, hometown, cities, friends, family, or country. Mankind has always had to learn to adapt to change no matter what happens in our daily lives. sometimes change is good which can allow for growth, and then there is the bad kind of Change which can lead mankind down the path of sin. how many of us have friends that we know we’ed said that we would stay connected or continue to talk too, but have not been very good at keeping it up? how many friends do you still keep up with today that are still your closes friends? Okay lets look
Job 38:24–26 NKJV
24 By what way is light diffused, Or the east wind scattered over the earth? 25 “Who has divided a channel for the overflowing water, Or a path for the thunderbolt, 26 To cause it to rain on a land where there is no one, A wilderness in which there is no man;
now that we see that man can not control the course of nature and change the balances of the environment. we now know a little about change, there is one thing that Change does not affect. do you guys know what that is or better yet who that is? That is right God. God is unaffected by Change. God is known as the unchangeable God. that is what we going to be looking at this morning on how God is unchangeable. let turn in our Bible too.
Genesis 1:1 NKJV
1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
Here in Gen 1 we see that God Created the heaven and the earth. here is a question for you all. what can we understand about God from this verse?
a. God is not on same standard as Mankind is.
b. God is above time itself.
C. God is the one who Created everything you see before for you.
Turn in your Bible:
John 1:1–3 NKJV
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.
Even in John we see more about God.
a. we see that the word was at the beginning, and the word was with God, and the word is God: All God had to do was speak.
b.He was also at the Beginning with God: Jesus Christ was with God at the beginning.
c. all thing were made through him, and without him nothing was made that was made: everything made for him, without him there is really nothing.
with these two passages we see that God took his time and made sure every detail was correct. perfect for mankind to live on what we call earth. God has made the air, the sun to shine light for plants to grow, he allowed the plants to grow to produce the food and oxygen for mankind and the animals. etc. Let go ahead and turn in our Bibles too:
Acts 17:26–27 NKJV
26 And He has made from one blood every nation of men to dwell on all the face of the earth, and has determined their preappointed times and the boundaries of their dwellings, 27 so that they should seek the Lord, in the hope that they might grope for Him and find Him, though He is not far from each one of us;
God has given Mankind everything they need in order to survive this physical life. Let go on ahead in our Bibles too:
2 Peter 1:3 NKJV
3 as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue,
Here we can come to understand mankind should never want any of the pleasures of this world. now let kind of shaft our focus here. it is kind of nice knowing that God is there. it is kind of nice knowing that there is being that hears and sees you for what you are. we can go to this being knowing that he would do anything for us, if we are willing to obey and trust his judgement. sometimes it not easy going to this being, sometime its scary because we as mankind are not perfect. we know that he is there waiting for us, and he design us and knows we can be perfect but in our own eye we do not consider ourselves perfect. the reasoning behind all this and knowing that God does not change is this. Let us turn in our Bible’s too:
Isaiah 55:11 NKJV
11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; It shall not return to Me void, But it shall accomplish what I please, And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.
This is one of the main primary reason why Mankind can trust the Bible or (God’s word). these words come from God himself. God set the standard of the Bible and of the prophets of the old testament. Mankind knowing that words that come from God are true and just. Mankind can have faith in God. knowing that he would never forsake those who have faith in him. with this in mind of mankind they understand that God would never go back on his word or change his mind. let turn in our bibles too:
Malachi 3:6 NKJV
6 “For I am the Lord, I do not change; Therefore you are not consumed, O sons of Jacob.
Let think about this moment? if God change his mind what kind of Problems would Mankind face?
Here in Malachi we see that God tells the children of Israel, “ I am your Lord, I do not Change” so you will not be consumed by the world. Let us think about this for moment here. Mankind has a foundation that will not change. Mankind has always trust the solidness of the earth, the sun to continue to shine, the wind to blow, and the most important one is the mankind can trust the word of God to never change. think about this when God says something its going to happen there is no way of stopping it or negotiating with God. Mankind can come to understand that God will never change his mind once he says what he is going to do. the reason why this important is because man souls depends on God. God has promise mankind eternal life, and if God were to change his mind mankind would not be able to trust God. The laws would keep change, and issue that would rise out of if God change his mind would be that some generation would have a difficult time with keeping the law. some might not have no law at all. for this very reason is why Mankind knows that God is a Just and righteous. Let us turn in our Bibles too
Deuteronomy 32:4 NKJV
4 He is the Rock, His work is perfect; For all His ways are justice, A God of truth and without injustice; Righteous and upright is He.
Now look at the verse we just read do you notice anything about this verse?
lets look at verse a little more closely see how it calls God the Rock, the rock is an unmoveable foundation we have in Christianity because we understand that we have a solid foundation in God. he will not change his mind. Let turn in our Bible too:
James 1:17 NKJV
17 Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
Mankind can understand that God will never Change and will never hint at changing. Now we have an understanding that God will not Change we should also consider that Christ himself will Change right? No Christ does not change, because he is God’s own son. Let turn in our Bibles too:
John 14:9–10 NKJV
9 Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? 10 Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works.
we can see here that Christ and the father are in agreement. Jesus was doing the will of God. just as God is unchanging, so is Christ if you remember John 1:1. God will also be the same, so Christ will also be forever the same as God. we will come to understand that the law of Christ which is the new testament will never change, and so will word of God who will never change. it is very nice to know that Jesus Christ will never change. we as Christians come to understand that Christ is our propitiation for our sins, he is our mediator, he is our king, he is the lamb of God, and he is the sacrifice for our transgressions. Jesus christ is some much more, but if he were to change all of this things would go out the window. Let us turn in our Bible too:
Revelation 14:6 NKJV
6 Then I saw another angel flying in the midst of heaven, having the everlasting gospel to preach to those who dwell on the earth—to every nation, tribe, tongue, and people—
Our lives today and our spiritual lives depend on the words of unchangeable God. it very reassuring to know that we can count on the fact that Jesus and God are the same as today and yesterday, and for tomorrow. lets turn in our Bibles too:
Hebrews 13:8 NKJV
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever.
it is nice to know that God words are true, and reassuring. the problem is that mankind tends to change the words of God into his own desire. Mankind has always tried to change the words of Christ and of God in order to fit what they want in this physical life. that is why God has warn mankind from changing his words. let us turn in our Bibles too:
Deuteronomy 4:2 NKJV
2 You shall not add to the word which I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the Lord your God which I command you.
People have always wanted God to fit in around them, the problem is that God does not fit in a tiny space, he surrounds his people with his words of truth. Mankind has a hard problem with not leaving the words of God alone and changing them to fit man’s desire. which cause many to follow the path that leads to destruction. why would you believe man who lies than the words of God? Because if we have faith in God and Obey his commandments we understand as Christians that God does not Lie to his Children. let turn in our Bibles too:
Titus 1:2 NKJV
2 in hope of eternal life which God, who cannot lie, promised before time began,
Since God cannot lie we as Christians understand that his word is truth. turn in your Bibles too:
John 17:17 NKJV
17 Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.
so if man continues to changes God’s words man lives in web of lies, what would happen to those who believe in a man lie?
man need to understand that in order to have eternal life he must follow God instructions and not his own desires, man must deny himself in order to understand the words of God. Man must Believe that there is a God, must hear, must repent, must confess, must be baptized, and must live faithfully to God gain eternal life. let us turn in our Bibles too:
John 12:48 NKJV
48 He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him—the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
the truth is that this is a spiritual matter and a the consequence of not choosing God will lead to a spiritual death. Mankind needs to listen and obey God.
Romans 3:23 NKJV
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
God knew that mankind would eventually fall, that is the reasoning behind God sending us his son to close the gap that separated us from God. so why would man want to change God’s word? mankind need to understand that if he changes the word of God he will not enter eternal life. we as Christians come to understand that Jesus build his church on the revelation of Peter confession. turn in your Bibles too:
Matthew 16:18 NKJV
18 And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.
this subject is to change no more as to God is to Change. the church was establish on the day of Pentecost when Peter and the other apostles stood and proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ who was crucified. let turn in our Bibles too:
Acts 2:38–47 NKJV
38 Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.” 40 And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.” 41 Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added to them. 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, 47 praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.
we can also look at:
Ephesians 2:20 NKJV
20 having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone,
Lets go too:
Colossians 1:18 NKJV
18 And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.
let look:
Ephesians 1:22–23 NKJV
22 And He put all things under His feet, and gave Him to be head over all things to the church, 23 which is His body, the fullness of Him who fills all in all.
we as Christians understand that each soul that is save becomes a member of the body which is the church. (acts 2:47) we also see Paul who was not an Apostle until after the death of Christ. say that Christ is the head of the church like the husband is to a wife. turn in your Bibles too:
Ephesians 5:23 NKJV
23 For the husband is head of the wife, as also Christ is head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body.
we as Christian’s see that the Apostles had also help with establish the church but they also help began the kingdom of God. let’s turn in our Bibles too:
Mark 9:1 NKJV
1 And He said to them, “Assuredly, I say to you that there are some standing here who will not taste death till they see the kingdom of God present with power.”
it now comes to terms that Christ who is the head of the church is changeless, thus we as Christians can safely assume that the church is also changeless. Mankind has tempted to change the words of God, and they have also tried to change the church which is the body of Christ. some of these changes had affect on the church. by giving offices, changing times of worship, allow instrument music playing during worship, allowing women to take on leadership role within the church, by removing and adding steps to salvation. once change it is no longer the church but a creation made by man. we see that if God does not change, His words do not change, Jesus who does not change, the church does not change. then why add the extra thing that are not need within the church today? We as Christians need to speak where the bible speaks and need to be silent where the Bible is silent. If God left it out of the Bible then way tried to add to it? (1st John 5:20)
