INTRO

Good morning, friends, we’re so glad you have tuned in to hear God’s Precepts and Promises this morning brought to you by the Rome Church of Christ.

We’re examining Christianity systematically--taking all the Bible has to say on a subject and putting it together as best as possible. Letting the Bible speak

Recap: We have discussed the fact that God exists. He is a perfect, just, holy, good, and loving God. He is relational; therefore, He chose to create us in His image. He has revealed Himself through the natural world and the written Word. He has given His creation this revelation. In recent days, we have seen how man is the crown of God’s creation, he gave us freewill and dominion (Heb 2:7-8)

But man has a problem.

DISCUSSION

We Have A Sin Problem

All have the sin problem (Rom 3:10, 23)

It is an age-old separation problem (Gen 3; Is. 59:1-2)

It is an individual problem (Ezek 18:20)

You cannot solve this problem (Gen. 3:8; Job 9:2, 3, 14, 20, 30-34)

We Have Legal Problems

Sin is the transgression of the law (1 Jn. 3:4)

One needs to be justified (Rom. 1:16-18)

The Gospel provides an advocate for our spiritual, legal trouble (1 Jn. 2:1-2)

Jesus satisfied God’s legal wrath (Is. 53:11; 1 Pet. 3:18)

Q: What is a Gospel Meeting?

A: We’re gathering this weekend to hear the Gospel preached in its simplicity. We’ll be singing and spending time in prayer as well. We hope you can join us.

We Have a Directional Problem

Sin’s allurement leads one to the far country (Lk. 15:13)

One may not think he is lost (Pro 14:12; Is. 53:6)

Without the Gospel, still wandering and wallowing

To enjoy the Father’s fatted calf, you have to leave the pigpen.

We have a death problem.

Sin brings death (Gen 2:17; Rom 6:23: Heb 2:14-15)

100% of persons have an appointment with death (Heb. 9:27)

There are no guarantees in life (Pro. 27:1)

The Gospel eliminates the sting of death (1 Cor. 15:54-55) and the bondage of death (Heb. 2:14-15)

You must set your house in order (Is. 38:1)

CONCLUSION

Sum: Man is full of trouble—sin, legal, directional, and death problems

Next Week: We begin to look at the solution to the sin problem: Jesus Christ

Until then, We encourage you to hear His precepts and trust His promises
