Isaiah 30:15 NIV
15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength, but you would have none of it.
State: Judah heard about an impending invasion by Assyria
They head to Egypt to form an alliance
Isaiah 30:16–17 NLT
16 You said, ‘No, we will get our help from Egypt. They will give us swift horses for riding into battle.’ But the only swiftness you are going to see is the swiftness of your enemies chasing you! 17 One of them will chase a thousand of you. Five of them will make all of you flee. You will be left like a lonely flagpole on a hill or a tattered banner on a distant mountaintop.”
State: Modern Day example of this
Dunkirk Miracle
On 10 May 1940 Hitler had launched his blitzkrieg against the Low Countries and France.
Over 300,000 British and allied soldiers were trapped at Dunkirk
Picture of Troops
Churchill thought the most they could save would be 20 or 30 thousand soldiers
On May 26th King George called for a national day of prayer for England and the Empire
The first miracle.....Hitler stalls Troops
Hitler overruled his generals and halted the advance of his armored columns. They were now only ten miles away!
Allowed soldiers to walk to Dunkirk and to build defences
Leaving only Germany’s war planes to stop any evacuation
The second miracle.....Weather stops planes
A storm broke over Flanders on Tuesday, 28 May, (1940) grounding the German Luftwaffe squadrons and enabling the British army formations, now eight to twelve miles from Dunkirk to move without bombardment.

The third miracle…The Channel is calm..small ships (800) could get soldiers from beach to larger boats…

Despite the storm in Flanders, a great calm—such as has rarely been experienced—settled over the English Channel during the days which followed, which enabled a vast armada of little ships, big ships, warships, privately owned motor-cruisers from British rivers and estuaries –
340,000 soldiers were rescued
These soldiers were Britains most experienced and well trained soldiers
They were
Arch Bishop of Canterbury said about coincidences
When I pray, coincidences happen, and when I don't, they don't. ” – William Temple, Achbishop of Canterbury, Church of England
Isaiah 30:18–27 (NLT)
18 So the Lord must wait for you to come to him so he can show you his love and compassion. For the Lord is a faithful God. Blessed are those who wait for his help. 19 O people of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. He will be gracious if you ask for help. He will surely respond to the sound of your cries.
20 Though the Lord gave you adversity for food and suffering for drink, he will still be with you to teach you. You will see your teacher with your own eyes. 21 Your own ears will hear him. Right behind you a voice will say, “This is the way you should go,” whether to the right or to the left.
State: Even though Judah was willfully ignoring the prophet’s call to trust the Lord and not Egypt....God still was willing to lead and guide if they asked him.
Isaiah 30:15 (NIV)
15 This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says: “In repentance and rest is your salvation, in quietness and trust is your strength,
Repentance: Turning away from an attitude, belief or action.
Rest: inactivity
Quietness: Be at rest, peaceful, quiet
Trust: Certainty - based on past experiences
Is There something that you need to repent of?
Is there something you need to leave with the Lord- (Yet again)
Do you need God to help you trust again for something
Do you need to learn how to rest and wait for God’s deliverance and help
