The Child Within
Text: Luke 8:40-56 (KJV)
The Child Within: Get rid of the Child, lose the issue.
Scenarios
A. First, I want to tell you about the child who went, and was often sent, to his neighbor’s house to use the phone because they did not have one. While there, seconds turned into minutes as he flipped the pages of Playboy magazines seeing things that were not meant for his tender eyes but he got away with it because the man of this house allowed him to watch the magazines and probably assumed that this would make a man out of him not realizing that this child’s life was becoming more and more scarred with each glance.
This child was also sent to the Pantry (the mini market) a little more than a half of a mile to get a loaf of bread or a gallon of milk, and at other times just to get a snack for himself. While there he flipped the pages of playboy magazines still. This was an issue that had developed days, weeks, months, and years and had brought on a demonic memory as well as a demonic bondage that he could not understand. And believe it or not his parents never knew the trap that they had sent him into. His soul had become bound by a lustful spirit.
Though he was not having sex, probably because he was too quiet and extremely shy and although he remained a virgin until his senior year in high school he was still bound by a lustful spirit that caused his eyes to wonder every time he saw a magazine shelf for almost 35 years.
He often times drove from mall to mall in search of a magazine store to satisfy the hunger that had developed in his soul looking over his shoulder hoping that no one would walk in that knew him and catch him in the forbidden corner of lust. Hoping that no one would recognize the anointing that was on his life he could yet hear a voice within saying, “You don’t look like everybody else. People can tell that you are a minister.”
His eyes wondered every time he watched a movie and people began to strip off the layers of their clothes and have sex, weather it was on HBO or while surfing the channels in the midnight ours losing sleep and rest.
Sometimes he rented that special video that was guaranteed to have all that he wanted to see. Other times stopped by the adult entertainment store and hoped that no one passing by would recognize his car. He also “Prayed” that he would not bump into anybody he knew because even though they would have the same issue he did not want them to know about his issue. He threw away dollar after dollar that could surely have been used more wisely. Satan always provided exactly what he needed to feed his fleshly appetite that grew stronger and became more intense.
He wanted to stop but did not know how. Every time he said “No.” His fleshly desire was so great that he continued to surrender to it. Many times he could have even been spending time with God in prayer or the Word of God. The child within would respond saying, “I will stop in just a minuet,” but that minute never came.
As an end result the Child within caused him to suffer with the pain of guilt and conviction. He repented over and over and over, night after night because of the child within that had developed a long lasting secret issue that sought to kill him.
At last he gained enough strength as he began to fight for his destiny that he finally understood that Satan was really after. He totally submitted to the God within and obtained deliverance from the lustful spirit. However, he still had the demonic memory that could not be cast out. He did not understand that this type of bondage took place threw counseling.
The files of his mind had to be deleted and replaced with truth. The faulty value system that once had a strong foundation in him and was like a tall high rise building towering in his life that had been so hard to hide had finally been torn down. But oh the mountain of rubble that had to be cleared.
At last came the knowledge to renew his mind and to deliver him from demonic memories in Christian Life School of Theology now known as Kingdom Life School of Theology through courses such as “You Can Be Emotionally Healed and Advanced Deliverance. The Child that possessed this issue died, and the man has been set free from his issue!
B. The second child grew up in the home of a well known family in a small town. Although the good days out numbered the bad days, his parents fought almost every weekend and on every holiday. The fights were so violent that they often suffered cuts, bruises, and swollen foreheads. There was so much screaming and crying.
The child feared that sooner or later one would kill the other. This child loved both his parents dearly and never wanted to see them part and to this day they never have. However, this child was bound by a spirit of fear. He often trembled in his bed, teeth chattering, having a nightmare but was awake. Then he would jump out of bed in the midnight hours and run into his parent’s bed room trying to break them up night after night.
All he wanted was a good night sleep. If he went to bed and his father had not come home he was too afraid to go to sleep because he knew from the pattern that had been established that there was going to be a fight. The hours would roll by in silence. Finally about 3:30 A. M. he could hear the sound of the Ford pulling into the drive way. His eyes popped open. The kitchen light came on. Within one minute of arguing the fight began and he would run to break it up again.
This child decided to go to college just to get out of the house. He sought peace that his parents could not provide. He got saved but he still had an issue. He had been a member of several churches throughout his life, but no one could minister to his need. Running, jumping, singing, and shouting were a part of his Christian celebration, but none of these could set him free. He later understood that although he was surrounded by dynamite preachers they too had hidden issues and did not know how to minister to their own needs nor anybody else’s.
The spirit of fear had bound him emotionally and followed him everywhere he went. He strove for peace with people just to avoid confrontations or a fight. He was reminded of his grandmother saying, “You can’t argue with a sign pole,” so he just stayed quiet. He had a silent storm.
He thought he would find peace in the church. However, it was there that he found the fight of his parents revived.
In this setting, those who he had confidence in who were considered as the saints fought him year after year. He could not do enough good. All of the good that he did was only fuel in there fire for him. He never fought back. He trusted God to fight his battles.
God fought for his child every time. Why? Because the child was afraid. Although he was a pastor with an issue, he was bound by a spirit of fear and was possessed a demonic memory. He was strong on one hand but weak on the other. He was still God’s chosen vessel for the hour: a leaking vessel with an issue.
At last, the child was crucified with a prayer life that ushered him into the throne room of his Heavenly Father. He spent hours at a time in His presence. While lying prostrate at the Father’s right hand he was empowered and launched spiritual warfare against Satan and his host. He came out a mighty man of valor suited in the whole armor of God maintaining his victory and deliverance.
Until one day while sitting in a seafood restaurant with his brother in the Gospel some how a demonic memory that caused pain was confronted. All the fights had long ceased but whenever someone did what others used to do or said what he once heard that brought on a fight in the past, a certain feeling would come upon this young man that his brother noticed in his eyes and on his face.
His brother said, “You are experiencing the memory of your past. Think back, do you remember the first time you saw your parents fight?” He told him that he felt sure that they fought while he was in his mother’s womb. His eyes filled with tears. He felt that they had gotten to the root of the issue. His brother had touched the ouch (The place where it hurts the most). He was being delivered from the demonic memory and has been free since that day.
C. The man or woman, the boy or girl in the pew.
I am sure that as you have heard my testimony you have seen yourself. You have looked back in the history of your life. There is a reason that you do what you do or feel what you feel. There is a reason that you act the way you act or respond the way you respond. It is not about your spouse, parents, boss, supervisor, pastor, first lady, brother, sister, friend nor enemy.
It is about the child within who has an issue. Kill the child with the Sword of truth and be delivered from the issue.
D. The Text: Luke 8:40-56 (KJV)
40 And it came to pass, that, when Jesus was returned, the people gladly received him: for they were all waiting for him. 41 And, behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was a ruler of the synagogue: and he fell down at Jesus’ feet, and besought him that he would come into his house: 42 for he had one only daughter, about twelve years of age, and she lay a dying. But as he went the people thronged him. 43 And a woman having an issue of blood twelve years, which had spent all her living upon physicians, neither could be healed of any, 44 Came behind him, and touched the border of his garment: and immediately her issue of blood stanched. 45 And Jesus said, Who touched me? When all denied, Peter and they that were with him said, Master, the multitude throng thee and press thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? 46 And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of me. 47 And when the woman saw that she was not hid, she came trembling, and falling down before him, she declared unto him before all the people for what cause she had touched him, and how she was healed immediately. 48 And he said unto her, Daughter, be of good comfort: thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace. 49 While he yet spake, there cometh one from the ruler of the synagogue’s house, saying to him, Thy daughter is dead; trouble not the Master. 50 But when Jesus heard it, he answered him, saying, Fear not: believe only, and she shall be made whole. 51 And when he came into the house, he suffered no man to go in, save Peter, and James, and John, and the father and the mother of the maiden. 52 And all wept, and bewailed her: but he said, Weep not; she is not dead, but sleepeth. 53 And they laughed him to scorn, knowing that she was dead. 54 And he put them all out, and took her by the hand, and called, saying, Maid, arise. 55 And her spirit came again, and she arose straightway: and he commanded to give her meat. 56 And her parents were astonished: but he charged them that they should tell no man what was done.
This text can be ministered in at least 3 different ways:
1. We could minister about Jairus’ Daughter.
2. We could minister about the woman with the issue of blood.
3. We could see the female in both stories as one person.
Today God has led me to minister by way of the third example because we are adults with a child within. I find it interesting that Jesus weaved the two illustrations together instead of separating them. It is also interesting that one female was 12 years old while the other had an issue for 12 years. Both were dying even as one died. Your issue can eventually kill you. (Spiritually and/or physically)
The child within must die so that the Holy Spirit can raise it up again in a new state: healed, delivered, and set free. This is the essence of ministry. The church is a spiritual hospital and a spiritual army. Wounded soldiers don’t fight quite as well as those who are healed. God is raising up spiritual leaders to minister to the needs of His children. It is no longer church as usually. The people must be healed!
Satan launched many blows against you through out your life that you often times have not been healed from. You too have shouted over them and danced around them. You have even run from them and have cried about them, but you have not been healed. Today God sends His word to heal you. The gift of healing is manifested in this place today for you!
Come now to the altar and present your body a living sacrifice unto the Lord. Bring the child within and the issue. Come and die in the presence of the Lord. Be made whole by God today.
