I. Scoffers of Prophecy

In Peter’s time there were those who believed that this was all a hoax and that none of it would come true
One who truly follows God lives in the imperative
There are many like this today even though they don’t always seem as brash as what Peter lays out

II. Time according to God

You and I do not experience time as God does
God gives us the gift of all the time that we have that we might in that time find him and turn to him
The day of the LORD is coming and you will not be expecting it
Live that way now

III. All things dissolved

What is the point of storing up all the things that you can in this life?
Luke 12:16
Not that there is anything wrong with having goals or planning ahead
Any life not preparing most of all for an eternal life however, is a life that has missed the point

IV. Final things

Peter’s love and approval of Paul
Always do your best to grow so that you won’t be led away

Application

calling yourself a Christian means understanding where your life is
I am a Christian so I am not living for this earth
I am living so that when my time is done there will be a life that continues
So that when Jesus returns I will already be closer to his place than I am to mine
