Intro - Our world is all about MORE. MORE toys, MORE money, MORE recognition. It seems everyone's working harder and enjoying things less.
To keep up with this rat race of doing MORE to enjoy things less, somewhere along the line somebody decided all we need is more Energy.
The Bible says....
Luke 12:15 KJV 1900
And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth.
Mark 8:36 KJV 1900
For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

Godliness with contentment is great gain.

Contentment

1 Timothy 6:6 KJV 1900
But godliness with contentment is great gain.
Contentment is a state of satisfaction.
We live in the wealthiest country of all time in all the world. People who live at the poverty line in this country are better off than 3/4 of the 7 billion on our planet.
More is not better
A man who does what he loves will never work another day in his life.
Rejoice in the day He’s made. Enjoy it.

Jesus Said This About Contentment

Example - American dream. Work hard. Fall in love. Get married. Spend too much on a wedding. Save up to buy a house. Argue and fight because of financial pressure. Fill the house with stuff. Greatest factor in marital issues is financial pressure.
Jesus Warned His people.
16 of 38 parables deal with money.
1 of 10 verses in NT deal with money.
500 verse on prayers. Less than 500 on faith. OVER 2000 on money. Why?
Jesus knew people would be addicted to more. He said

Principles For Contentment

We are steward . It isn’t our. 1 Cor. 4:2
1 Corinthians 4:2 KJV 1900
Moreover it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.
Who will be living in your house in 100 years?
Some of us think it’s ours because the bank lets us think it is.
Know How In Every State
Woman who cam to Bible study . Everyone was jealous of her
Celebrate what you have and avoid comparisons.
Invest in the Lord’s work - Matt 6:19-20

Lay not up for yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal: But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal:
Don’t give in to worry. Matt 6:34

Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof.
