God is a Triune God

The Trinity is a hard concept to understand. Human wisdom has tried to explain, in human terms, concepts and descriptive words to assist us with, some understanding, but it falls short, because it is impossible to totally explain who God is . Many doctrinal or theology books use terminology to explain the trinity, they will say there are three essences, there are three beings, there are three persons. None of these concepts completely explain who God is. I will use

some illustrations help understand the concept of the trinity, but they will fall short of explaining the Trinity. But it really comes down to having faith and recognizing the God experiences in our life.

His name Elohim is a plural name

He speaks of Himself as plural. Turn to Genesis 1:26 “Let us make man in our image.” God is using the word us, which indicates that God was in dialogue with Christ when Christ was creating everything. God mentions that the Lord Jesus Christ is equal to God. 1 Corinthians 8:6

“But to us there is but one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we in him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we by him.”

Holy Spirit is divine, He is apart of the Triune God Can you turn to Romans 8:1,2, 9, 16.

There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

17 And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.

Great commission commands us to baptize in the name of the Father and of the Son and the Holy Spirit. Please turn with me to: Matthew 28: 18-20

18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.

19 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:

20 Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen.

We could spend hours examining all the verses that connect the Father, Son and Holy Spirit as the Triune God or as we say the Holy Trinity. I hope the following verses and message points will help shed some light, how great our Heavenly Father is

Next God is a being,

Let us turn to Exodus 3:14

“And God said to Moses, I Am Who I Am.: And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children, I AM has sent me to you.”

God is a being

In His being God is self existing. Not only does He have life, but he is life to His universe and has the source of that life within him. We see in Exodus 3:14 The quality of God’s being is express in His self affirmation. He is the life giver as seen in John 1: 1-3 Please turn with me:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

2 The same was in the beginning with God.

3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

Let us turn to John 5:26

For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;

We see Jesus has the same attribute as God the Father, in that, He is self existing

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

Now,we will look at “God has a nature” Let us read John 4: 24

24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

God has a nature

In His nature God is pure spirit, which means pure intelligent energy. This is impossible for us to comprehend, because we are limited to time and place, as to knowledge and power. In His infinity nature , God is eternal, all-present, all knowing and all powerful. let us turn to Acts 17:24,

God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;

In him we live, breathe, move and have our being. Every time we breathe we can be thankful and remember that he is the giver of life.

Let us turn to Matthew 5:48

Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect.

God has a perfectly pure spirit! Even His Character is perfect.

God’s character

Not only does God have a being and nature, God character is evident through His attributes. He is called our rock, our salvation, our shield, our defender, our light and so on. The clearest pictures of His character is seen in His names, such as, Jehovah-Jireh- God provides. Jehovah-Shalom- God is our peace. I can name many more, but because of time we need to move on. So, God is a rational, self-conscious, and self-determining, an intelligent moral agent. He is the source of all rationality and truth.

All claimed truth, has to be examine under the scope of Biblical truth!

Let us turn to Psalm 135:5-7

For I know that the Lord is great, and that our Lord is above all gods.

6 Whatsoever the Lord pleased, that did he in heaven, and in earth, in the seas, and all deep places.

7 He causeth the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth; he maketh lightnings for the rain; he bringeth the wind out of his treasuries.

God has a will

We must understand that God is sovereign. he decides what to do and what not to do. He makes His own plans and in His own time frame.

There is a problem. I like to plan and set a time fame for it come to fruition. But, sometimes it does not match Gods plan or time frame .

My prayers are similar realities. I have pray many times for things to happen now and in my way and guess what?

Bible teaches that all life is lived in the sustaining prefect will of God, and our life experiences reveal we are not in control.

For our last point let us turn to I John 1:3

That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

God is relational

In counseling people, I have realize that many people have a false image of God. He is mean, hard to please and someone one to fear. But the Bible is filled with many passages revealing a loving, and caring father.

God wants us to have a personal relation with Him. A close fellowship with His children. He wants us to accept Him as our Heavenly father and accept His Fatherly love.

God is a eternally within Himself a loving relationship of three equal and distinct persons, Father, Son and Spirit. And He extends that extremely awesome relationship to all that have recieved Jesus Christ as their personal Lord and Savior. When we say “Yes” to Jesus we have a personal encounters with a Triune God. He wants us to repent of our sin and asked Him to be our Lord and Savior

What does repent mean, 180 turn

Bow your heads,

Do you have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is He your Savior. Have asked Jesus to be our Lord and Savior. If not, say this prayer with me, Jesus I know I am a sinner, I know the result of sin causes me when I die, to go to a terrible place called Hell. I I realize you died on the cross for me to pay for the penalty of my sin, and then rose three days later. Today, I confess and repent of my sins and asked you to be Lord and Savior. Thank you Jesus for saving me today!

Thank you Heavenly Father for being a good, good Father to us. May we learn to trust you more, wait patiently for answers to prayer. Heavenly Father may we study your Word more so we get deeper understanding who you are and may we strive to get closer to you and get to know you in a deeper way.
