There are so many aspects of communion that we can visit.
We can consider:
-sanctification
-unity of the Church
-Union with Christ
-recognize the centrality of the gospel and evangelism
-accountability, self-examination and repentance
This Saturday we will be exactly 50 days from our launch sunday.
-we have worked so hard on this building to make it look good
-we have planned and discussed countless hours of planning and what ifs and every scenario imaginable
-we have thought of every aspect of the service and examined in light of scripture and our mission
In all of that I think we have forgotten what is most important.
-When we first gathered in our living room we had deep in depth discussions about the Church. We studied Ecclesiology. In that we discussed what it meant to be a body. We discussed 1 Cor 12 in great detail.
Let's go back and examine that text in depth. 1 Cor 12:12.
So this leads us to the some serious thought.....
1. What is Gods will for you inside of the body? Maybe your burden is different than mine. That's ok
-my job is not more important than yours
2. Will we love like we should inside of the body of Christ?
3. When someone messes up or doesn’t tow the line, what is our response?
4. How will we react when someone comes in and doesn’t fit in like the rest of us? Will we ignore them? Will you just trust that I will stay in contact or will you maybe go out of your way to make contact also?
5. Can we look at 1 Cor 13 and always remember it isn’t a wedding chapter but should be the very essence and life of the body of Christ?
Go back to 1 Cor 11
We are launching our 50 days of prayer this week. We will discuss ideas you can use to minister to others. Ways you can reach out and pray for others. Ways you can get people to contact you and ask you to pray for them.
I want to challenge us that today we set ourselves aside and prepare our hearts to be ready for whatever direction God leads us these next 50 days.
This morning are you maybe a little cold? Maybe you are struggling with a secret sin.
Maybe you have anger toward someone and you need to clear that up.
Maybe today you just need to renew your relationship with God.
Maybe you are carrying around a massive weight and today you simply want to come up here and just surrender that thing and nail it to the cross.
Maybe you have never experienced salvation and today, you just want to surrender
