Worthy of Worship

Worship is us expressing the great worth of someone or thing that is worthy
Who or what else on this planet deserves our worship
Who else has been always faithful, true, unchanging
All summer we have talked and seen how God can:
direct and protect us, give us freedom, strengthen us, give us freedom, joy, hope and peace.
Who else can do all that?
We all Worship someone or something.
Today we worship the one who is worthy.
Today we will close with communion so please prepare and join us as we answer the question of , How Great is Our God?
SONG - Video
1. God’s creation reveals His majesty
Psalm 19:1–2 CSB
The heavens declare the glory of God, and the expanse proclaims the work of his hands. Day after day they pour out speech; night after night they communicate knowledge.
1. God’s creation reveals His majesty
Think about this: at the speed of light
-11 seconds to go around the earth
-1.3 seconds to get top the moon
-8.3 minutes to get to the sun
-13.7 days to get to Pluto
-4.3 years to get to Alpha Centari (closest star after Sun)
-100,000 years to cross our galaxy
All of it held together by the exact gravitational pulls and forces
God spoke it all in existence but with us He formed with His hands
If the universe spoken into existence declares His glory,
Then shouldn’t I

2. God’s word reveals his truth
Psalm 19:7–8 CSB
The instruction of the Lord is perfect, renewing one’s life; the testimony of the Lord is trustworthy, making the inexperienced wise. The precepts of the Lord are right, making the heart glad; the command of the Lord is radiant, making the eyes light up.
2. God’s word reveals his truth
By reading the scriptures I am so renewed that all nature seems renewed around me and with me. The sky seems to be a pure, a cooler blue, the trees a deeper green. The whole world is charged with the glory of God and I feel fire and music under my feet. - Thomas Merton
2. God’s word reveals his truth
It in these words we find the promises, the truth of who God is
It is in these words that we find our need for salvation, and a savior
It is these words that we find wisdom and knowledge on how we are to live
It is these words that will change us
We must allow the Word of God to confront us, to disturb our security, to undermine our complacency and to overthrow our patterns of thought and behavior. - John Stott
It is in these words we find how great our God is

3. God’s work in us reveals His salvation
Psalm 19:12–13 CSB
Who perceives his unintentional sins? Cleanse me from my hidden faults. Moreover, keep your servant from willful sins; do not let them rule me. Then I will be blameless and cleansed from blatant rebellion.
3. God’s work in us reveals His salvation
God knows our hearts and see our every move - yet loves us anyway
All of creation and our lives reveal a need for salvation
Ecclesiastes 3:11 CSB
He has made everything appropriate in its time. He has also put eternity in their hearts, but no one can discover the work God has done from beginning to end.
3. God’s work in us reveals His salvation
The way we live reveals the truth of that salvation every day
God does not only work in you on Sundays
Why should our worship be only on Sundays
Our greatest acts of Worship are outside of this place
When we live out our faith we worship
Prayer should echo
Psalm 19:14 CSB
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
We can worship be cause of the work of Christ in our lives
Our worship reveals what we feel and think of God
The cross and the empty tomb reminds us what God thinks of us
That is what Communion is:
It is in response of what Christ has done for us
A look back at the Cross and a look forward to when all this will be new
It is an act of commitment and worship
As the elements are passed please take time to pray and prepare
Psalm 19:14 CSB
May the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you, Lord, my rock and my Redeemer.
