PROVERBS 1:1-4
The proverbs of Solomon the son of David, king of Israel: 2To know wisdom and
instruction, to discern the sayings of understanding, 3to receive instruction in
wise behavior, righteousness, justice and equity; 4to give prudence to the naive,
to the youth knowledge and discretion.
PROVERBS 8:10-11
Take my instruction and not silver, and knowledge rather than choicest gold. 11For
wisdom is better than jewels; and all desirable things cannot compare with her.
PROVERBS 8:18-19
Riches and honor are with me, enduring wealth and righteousness. 19My fruit is
better than gold, even pure gold, and my yield better than choicest silver.
PROVERBS 8:32-35 NLT
My children, listen to me, for all who follow my ways are joyful. 33Listen to my
instruction and be wise. Don’t ignore it. 34Joyful are those who listen to me,
watching for me daily at my gates, waiting for me outside my home! 35For
whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the Lord.
PROVERBS 1:27-3
When your dread comes like a storm and your calamity comes like a whirlwind,
when distress and anguish come upon you. 28Then they will call on me, but I will
not answer; they will seek me diligently but they will not find me, 29because they
hated knowledge and did not choose the fear of the Lord. 30They would not
accept my counsel, they spurned all my reproof. 31So they shall eat of the fruit of
their own way and be satiated with their own devices. 32For the waywardness of
the naive will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them. But he
who listens to me shall live securely and will be at ease from the dread of evil.
PROVERBS 2:2-5 NLT
Tune your ears to wisdom, and concentrate on understanding. 3Cry out for
insight, and ask for understanding. 4Search for them as you would for silver; seek
them like hidden treasures. 5Then you will understand what it means to fear the
Lord, and you will gain knowledge of God.
PROVERBS 2:9-12a NLT
Then you will understand what is right, just, and fair, and you will find the
right way to go. 10For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will fill you
with joy. 11Wise choices will watch over you. Understanding will keep you safe.
12
Wisdom will save you from evil people.
PROVERBS 3:13-18
How blessed is the man who finds wisdom and the man who gains
understanding. 14For her profit is better than the profit of silver and her gain
better than fine gold. 15She is more precious than jewels; and nothing you desire
compares with her. 16Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and
honor. 17Her ways are pleasant ways and all her paths are peace. 18She is a tree
of life to those who take hold of her, and happy are all who hold her fast.
PROVERBS 4:3-5a
When I was a son to my father, tender and the only son in the sight of my
mother, 4then he taught me and said to me, “Let your heart hold fast my words;
keep my commandments and live; 5acquire wisdom! Acquire understanding!
PROVERBS 4:6-9
Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; love her, and she will watch over
you. 7The beginning of wisdom is: acquire wisdom; and with all your acquiring,
get understanding. 8Prize her, and she will exalt you; she will honor you if you
embrace her. 9She will place on your head a garland of grace; she will present
you with a crown of beauty.
PROVERBS 5:1-2
My son, give attention to my wisdom, incline your ear to my understanding; 2that
you may observe discretion and your lips may reserve knowledge.
PROVERBS 8:12
I, wisdom, dwell with prudence, and I find knowledge and discretion.
PROVERBS 9:10a
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy
One is understanding.
PROVERBS 1:20
Wisdom shouts in the street, she lifts her voice in the square.
PROVERBS 1:23
Turn to my reproof, behold, I will pour out my spirit on you; I will make my words
known to you.
PROVERBS 2:1-7a
My son, if you will receive my words and treasure my commandments within
you, 2make your ear attentive to wisdom, incline your heart to understanding;
3
for if you cry for discernment, lift your voice for understanding; 4if you seek her
as silver and search for her as for hidden treasures; 5then you will discern the
fear of the Lord and discover the knowledge of God. 6For the Lord gives wisdom;
from His mouth come knowledge and understanding. 7He stores up sound
wisdom for the upright.
PROVERBS 8:17
I love those who love me; and those who diligently seek me will find me.
PROVERBS 9:1-6
"Wisdom has built her house, she has hewn out her seven pillars; 2she has
prepared her food, she has mixed her wine; she has also set her table; 3she has
sent out her maidens, she calls from the tops of the heights of the city: 4whoever
is naive, let him turn in here!” To him who lacks understanding she says, 5“Come,
eat of my food and drink of the wine I have mixed. 6“Forsake your folly and live,
and proceed in the way of understanding.”
PROVERBS 119:97-100
O how I love Your law! It is my meditation all the day. 98Your commandments
make me wiser than my enemies, for they are ever mine. 99I have more insight
than all my teachers, for Your testimonies are my meditation. 100I understand
more than the aged, because I have observed your precepts.
PROVERBS 1:5
A wise man will hear and increase in learning, and a man of understanding will
acquire wise counsel.
PROVERBS 1:8-9 NLT
My child, listen when your father corrects you. Don’t neglect your mother’s
instruction. 9What you learn from them will crown you with grace and be a chain
of honor around your neck.
PROVERBS 6:20-22 NLT
My son, observe the commandment of your father and do not forsake the
teaching of your mother; 21bind them continually on your heart; tie them around
your neck. 22When you walk about, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will
watch over you; and when you awake, they will talk to you.
PROVERBS 15:14 NLT
A wise person is hungry for knowledge, while the fool feeds on trash.
PSALM 1:1a
How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.
JAMES 1:5
If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all generously and
without reproach, and it will be given to him.
1 CORINTHIANS 1:30
You are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God.
PROVERBS 4:7a, 8-9 NLT
7a
Getting wisdom is the wisest thing you can do! 8If you prize wisdom, she will
make you great. Embrace her, and she will honor you. 9She will place a lovely
wreath on your head; she will present you with a beautiful crown.”
