The spiritual struggle for the renewal of the church : “Renew my vision”

Romans 12:1–2 NLT
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice—the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.
Matthew 9:35–38 NLT
Jesus traveled through all the towns and villages of that area, teaching in the synagogues and announcing the Good News about the Kingdom. And he healed every kind of disease and illness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.”
In Matt 9:36, the Greek word “saw” is εἶδον: to perceive by sight or have the power to perceive by sight.
Also in verse 36, the Greek word “compassion” is σπλαγχνίζομαι: to be affected deeply in one’s inner being, especially in that aspect characterized by sympathy and compassion.
As we ask God to “renew” our vision, we are asking him to open our eyes to really see and for us to understand what/who we see and that we would be moved to action.
