Call to worship

Psalm 5:7–8 NKJV
7 But as for me, I will come into Your house in the multitude of Your mercy; In fear of You I will worship toward Your holy temple. 8 Lead me, O Lord, in Your righteousness because of my enemies; Make Your way straight before my face.

Tithes and Offerings

Malachi 3:10 NKJV
10 Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, That there may be food in My house, And try Me now in this,” Says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven And pour out for you such blessing That there will not be room enough to receive it.

Fulfill all Righteousness

Matthew 3:13–17 NKJV
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” 15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. 16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him. 17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”

1) we see a Humility here with John.

Matthew 3:13–14 NKJV
13 Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. 14 And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?”
here we see a humility.
John 3:30 NKJV
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
remember last week when we talked about John the baptist asked the Pharisees and Sadducee’s ?
do you remember how bold that was?
do you see the humility here?
there are many people who claim to be bold in the spirit but they are just rude and blaming it on the Holy spirit.
lets look at John the Baptist and Jesus. they where “bold” and “brash” to people who considered themselves the religious elite, because they claimed to speak for God and they where speaking for their status. People still do that today.
James 4:1 NKJV
1 Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?

2. Christ Asked John to baptise Him to Fulfill righteousness.

Matthew 3:15 NKJV
15 But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him.
Jesus confirms John the baptist Ministry as that of Elijah in His being Baptized. Let’s hear Johns own testimony on the matter.
John 1:29–34 NKJV
29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! 30 This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’ 31 I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.” 32 And John bore witness, saying, “I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and He remained upon Him. 33 I did not know Him, but He who sent me to baptize with water said to me, ‘Upon whom you see the Spirit descending, and remaining on Him, this is He who baptizes with the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I have seen and testified that this is the Son of God.”
John the Baptist Testified that Jesus is the messiah; “be hold the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! John 1:29
if Jesus Got baptised to fulfill righteousness, what is The Holy Spirit calling you to do that Righteousness might be fulfilled in you?
1 Samuel 15:22 NKJV
22 So Samuel said: “Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, As in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, And to heed than the fat of rams.
Hebrews 12:14 NKJV
14 Pursue peace with all people, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord:
1 Corinthians 11:1 NKJV
1 Imitate me, just as I also imitate Christ.
Ephesians 5:1–2 NKJV
1 Therefore be imitators of God as dear children. 2 And walk in love, as Christ also has loved us and given Himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweet-smelling aroma.
saved people produce saved fruit.
what we don't want to do (in the Church is just wait on god to sprinkle holy dust on us.) and do it for us.

3. Jesus is then confirmed by the Father and Anointed by the Spirit.

Matthew 3:16 NKJV
16 When He had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting upon Him.

Heavenly Father speaks:

Matthew 3:17 NKJV
17 And suddenly a voice came from heaven, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.”
of course when He does he quotes himself.
Psalm 2:7 NKJV
7 “I will declare the decree: The Lord has said to Me, ‘You are My Son, Today I have begotten You.
Isaiah 42:1–4 NKJV
1 “Behold! My Servant whom I uphold, My Elect One in whom My soul delights! I have put My Spirit upon Him; He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles. 2 He will not cry out, nor raise His voice, Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed He will not break, And smoking flax He will not quench; He will bring forth justice for truth. 4 He will not fail nor be discouraged, Till He has established justice in the earth; And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”
