Measure of Faith

Imitating What We have Seen

By now many of us have heard the powerful stories found in scripture that tell of such great feats of faith.

Parting the seas, turning water into wine, healings, deliverances, slaying of giants. The list goes on.

When I was still a young boy I would hear these stories and think how I wish I could do the same

I would try to walk on the surface of the pool, pray for the sick, and declare life into situations, I was 10 the first time encountered a deliverance.

I believed… and wanted so badly for my belief to be enough…but I was imitating what I had seen others do. I was trying to live through their faith

Today as we continue to build this church my belief in God, and His promises found in His word have prompted me to action no longer is it based on the faith of others but the measure of faith the Spirit of God has placed in me.

The measure of faith is a deposit from the Holy Spirit and is increased only by His Word

2 Kings 2:14 ESV

Then he took the cloak of Elijah that had fallen from him and struck the water, saying, “Where is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” And when he had struck the water, the water was parted to the one side and to the other, and Elisha went over.

Took time for Elisha to mature Spiritually

God shows His power

Others could see what Elisha could not yet see

the Spirit that had rested on Elijah now rested on him

We can rest assured that in each of us there is a deposit of faith

some have not exercised it, others need to ask for more of it

Faith Enough To...

Matthew 17:18–20 ESV

And Jesus rebuked the demon, and it came out of him, and the boy was healed instantly. Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

The disciples tried to rebuke a demon

Jesus makes a simple statement “if you had enough faith you would be able too...”

dispels the idea that the measure of faith we have is all we get

Operating in the authority of divinity will require a measure of faith.

With the right measure of faith nothing will be impossible

its starts with a measure of faith and that faith is grown through His word

Faith to Please God

Hebrews 11:6 ESV

And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

What must I do to please God

Simple Formula

Do the heart work to proof He exists

In this work you will come to terms with He Rewards those who seek Him to learn about Him

It is impossible genuinely seek Good and not learn about Him

The Lord in Matthew states Seek and you will find…

A Deposit of the Holy Spirit

Romans 12:3 ESV

For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

Each of us is afforded a measure of Grace

Each of us according to the measure needed

Eph 4 it is the Holy Spirit that pours that measure of Faith according to what the Lord has for us

some of you have a great vision

some of you have a great purpose

All of you have a great calling in God and according to that calling He is able to fill you

I Want More Faith… Just Ask

James 4:1–2 ESV

What causes quarrels and what causes fights among you? Is it not this, that your passions are at war within you? You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask.

The greatest tension between people is the jealousy to have what they have

Strong-faith people are torn down because of their faith

If you do not have enough faith ask for it…

when you ask brace for it

let it be with the right intentions of the heart

Romans 10:17 ESV

So faith comes from hearing, and hearing through the word of Christ.

Get into the Word and let Christ strengthen your faith.

I no longer live to imitate others. I have tasted and seen what the Lord has done

Its not someone else’s faith it is My Faith the one the HS continues to pour into me as I continue to seek

When I have questions when I have doubts I think of

Mark 9:23–24 ESV

And Jesus said to him, “ ‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.” Immediately the father of the child cried out and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

I ask for more faith… I cry to the Lord forgive my unbelief and strengthen my faith.

Of this I am sure Today I am in Him and in His promises found in HIs word
