The Generation of the Righteous

Psalm 14:1–7 KJV 1900

1 The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, There is none that doeth good. 2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon the children of men, To see if there were any that did understand, and seek God. 3 They are all gone aside, they are all together become filthy: There is none that doeth good, no, not one. 4 Have all the workers of iniquity no knowledge? Who eat up my people as they eat bread, And call not upon the Lord. 5 There were they in great fear: For God is in the generation of the righteous. 6 Ye have shamed the counsel of the poor, Because the Lord is his refuge. 7 Oh that the salvation of Israel were come out of Zion! When the Lord bringeth back the captivity of his people, Jacob shall rejoice, and Israel shall be glad.

Lets look at what this passage is saying

Who is a fool? verse 1

Someone who:

1. Says there is no God

2. Is corrupt

3. Does abominable works

4. Does not do good

Who did God look for? verse 2

Someone who:

Understands

Seeks God

Did the Lord find any? verse 3-4

there are all gone aside

there are filthy

none doing good

they devour people

do not call upon the Lord

What did this group of people previously do? Verse 5

Ask yourself this question do you seek what you understand?

Example:

There are the gold mines in California. UNDERSTANDING

I am going to start digging for gold in California. Seeking

I can get a job with Tesla right out of high school with no degree. Understanding

I am moving to Texas to work at Tesla. Seeking

If I practice more I will become better at my sport. Understanding

I am waking up to practice early in the morning. Seeking

If I follow the Bible I will be blessed by God. Understanding

I am going to:

Get a Bible reading plan

Talk like a Christian should

Pray for wisdom and understanding in all that I do

Mentally put on each piece of the armour of God EVERY MORNING

Not lie

Build others up

Not let the devil have any spot in your life

Not steal

Be kind to everyone and everything
