Intro Saul the Man
Intro Saul the Man
Tonight as we dig deeper into No Strings Attached Series. We are going to deal with the consequences of not obeying GOD. One of the things we must possess in our conduct and countenance is our ability to submit to God and His instructions.
Saul was a King appointed by God but chosen by the people of Israel. There can be a great danger in not being led by God through prayer concerning who oversees your life and life’s matters. In this passage of scripture we are going to dive into what happens when we go against what He needs from us. When He asks for us to do something they will always be on HIS TERMS AND NEVER OURS!
It’s your relationship, but the outcome will always be on His terms through His principle. See we only go to hell because of the principle, not because He wants us in hell it’s because we thought that we could do what we wanted to and do it as long as we wanted to. The reality of the matter is my conduct and countenance has a penalty and a reward.
The Bible says in Gal 6:7 you reap what you sow. Once your garden of carnal and fleshly desires gets big enough you will now become strangled by the fat of your own land.
Saul got to a place where he really smelled himself like he believed that he was really bigger than who he was, I mean after all he was king of God’s chosen people.
What are some of the things that we are going to take away from today?
What are some of the things that we are going to take away from today?
We will get a very intimate look into the mindset of what it takes to lose it all, as well as have it all. Saul went into battle against Agag and God (1 Sam 15). Why God? Because he thought he was going to do God a favor by bringing some “offerings” back to Him.
As if Obedience Wasn’t Enough?!
Repeat After Me:
Obedience to God is the Fullness of His Pleasure and Desire!
The Nature of God is simple for our life:
Obey Him.
You see Agag had to be killed because some years ago Agag had his men kill some of the rear of the children of Israel in Exodus 17:8. So this was some get back on them. You need to understand there is nothing weak about whom God has called into His own. Being Obedient bears strength and provision even when you may not believe that it is doing anything.
The Prophet Samuel declares in 1 Sam 15:22-23(Read it out loud) “Obedience is better than to sacrifice”. Never find yourself on the end of the sacrificial side.
Obedience is the Principle thing in the Eyes of God.
There is nothing I can do above His direct instruction that will get anything “more” or closer to God.
When we go above and beyond it isn’t for Him, it’s for us and the crowds. “You’re doing it for the likes and in the eyes of God it is simply too much!
Obedience brings prosperity to your entire house, and honors God by your humility to follow every instruction given.
When you have done wrong come clean immediately!
When you have done wrong come clean immediately!
Saul tried to justify what him and his camp did at the battle of Agag. At the end of the day wrong is wrong. Follow the last instruction given those were the words of the Lord. When HE speaks that is not up for debate.
The reason why many of us deal with abandonment and rejection is because we do too much for acceptance.
Saul really thought he could justify it to Samuel and the prophet was NOT MOVED BY HIS ANTICS. We are always trying to justify “our story” the reality is we don’t need to justify it what we need to do is to never do it in the first place.
Now there are some instances where Grace comes in to the rescue like the Avengers, but then there are other times where we have to learn the principle thing. Don’t do it, bottom line!
I know we have come to a place where we are talking about the fluffier side of church where it’s just Jesus and java or whatever else you like with your Jesus, lol… juice, tea, whatever… Jesus still has a judgement side of things. We want the friend and not the Father and it doesn’t work like that. I and my father are One!!! John 10:30 I am not here for your doctrinal dissertations on Jesus and Oneness I am only here to tell you that as Christians we need to Obey God, and be bent on Obeying Him DASSIT!
Prophets are A WHOLE NEED for US!
Prophets are A WHOLE NEED for US!
Saul had Samuel and eventually Samuel went and killed AGAG himself even after Agag muttered that he was better off dead, and he got his wish. You never want to have this happen though prophets are here to instruct and to give guidance on how to carry out God’s divine ordinances. Obedience is so essential and a non-negotiable in the life of the believer.
Prophets give us the view of what we are up against and are facing, and if you have the right prophet they can give you the outcome of what will happen once you obey God, or if you disobey God. The most interesting thing about this entire story is that Saul had the nerve that after the prophet died he thought he could go to a witch and get a word from God by bringing him Samuel, and boy did he get a word from God.....?!?!?
Saul got rid of all of the witches, mediums, and spiritists from Israel and now has found himself going to the very thing that God told him to exile down to Endor. He tried to dress himself up in a disguise so that nobody could recognize who he was, but the problem with that is, GOD SEEN HIM! That is what matters most, some things in principle can’t be undone.
There is a season in which disobedience will cost you silence with God. Don’t find yourself on that side on God. To be honest your best bet is to just repent and try to do what is necessary for our Godly conduct. Pray for Grace and mercy and reconciliation through repentance. That is the punitive difference of then and now, if you now how to get God’s attention to make it right, chances are, you’re good.
So now this man decides he is going to see a witch about hearing from God. What part of the game is that? We must never compromise our ability to be people of God’s principle. Keep the main thing the main thing, and just obey!
Our happiness and
