Jeremiah 29:10-13
Introduction:
A Time of Separation (10)
- In the verses preceding this the false prophets had told the people their separation would be short.
- God speaks through Jeremiah to the people that the separation does have an end, but it would be 70 year (almost 2 generations or a human life)
- The people were in Exile because of their disobedience and idolatry.
- Even though we don’t experience exile today the way they did in Jeremiah time, we can still be exiled or separated from God.
- Sin has always separated us from God, it always will.
- This seems hopeless, but there is hope.
- There can be reconciliation…At the end of this verse God promised that he would fulfill his promise and bring them back.
God Has A Plan (11)
- God’s plan wasn’t only to bring them back, but to give them a future.
- He wanted them to have something better then the exile they were in…From the beginning of time God had wanted better for them.
- His plan weren’t for evil…(they had experienced evil had the hand of their captures)
- He had a future for them, a hope for them…He has a future and a hope for each of us.
- We were dead in our sin, but can be made alive in Christ
We Must Call Upon The Lord (12)
- Even though they were in exile they could still communicate with God
- He told Israel…call…pray
- Then a promise…I will hear
- When we call upon the Lord for salvation we will be heard
Follow Him With All Our Heart (13)
- VBS Motto: Seek Truth! Find Jesus!
- We must follow Him with all our heart.
- He doesn’t want part, but all…He doesn’t take part of our sin but ALL.
Favorite Verse of It Is Well
- My sin, oh, the bliss of this glorious thought! My sin, not in part but the whole, Is nailed to the cross, and I bear it no more, Praise the Lord, praise the Lord, O my soul!
