Purpose

Joshua 1:1–9 NKJV
1 After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, it came to pass that the Lord spoke to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, saying: 2 “Moses My servant is dead. Now therefore, arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, to the land which I am giving to them—the children of Israel. 3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses. 4 From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the River Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites, and to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun, shall be your territory. 5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you. 6 Be strong and of good courage, for to this people you shall divide as an inheritance the land which I swore to their fathers to give them. 7 Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go. 8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. 9 Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Intro
The story of Joshua begins with God speaking to Joshua and informing him that His servant Moses is dead.
God now tells Joshua, now therefor, arise. God’s now calls attention to what He is about to say. Arise, go over this Jordan. God has just pressed upon Joshua with a purpose.
Message
1). God gave Joshua a “now” purpose.
In the complete Jewish bible it read “So now, get up and cross over.
God informs Joshua that your purpose begins, now.
Often times when God gives us His purpose we don”t put a now to it.
God’s purpose is given to us with a now attached to it, but we change it to our time or when i have time or we just let life get in the way.
When i was growing up, i mean my generation, NOW meant NOW.
When my father said cut the grass or wash the car, or bring me something, he did not say right now, it was understood that he meant right now. When it did not happen right now, there were consequences to be paid.
From this we understood that win your teachers spoke, your football/baseball coach spoke, when your supervisor spoke, and when you spiritual father speaks, it means right now.
When God told Joshua, So now, get up, He meant,NOW!
2). Take the landing i am giving you.
Joshua 1:3 NKJV
3 Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given you, as I said to Moses.
IF you told you His purpose for your life it” already been given to you. Now you just go get it.

3). God promised to be with me.
Joshua 1:5 NKJV
5 No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life; as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you nor forsake you.
God promised to be with and no man can stand against me.
4). You’r going to have to fight.
God told Joshua three time to be strong and of good courage, Be strong and very courageous and be strong and of good courage.
What we must understand just because God has given you a purpose does not mean that the devil is just going to step to one side and allow you to be prosperous.
You are going to have to fight (spiritual warfare).
Our purpose in God is design to advance the Kingdom of God.
We are fighting the devil for soles. introducing people to Christ is what our purpose to tied to.
There is three thing you must no.
So let’s get you trained.
Three things you need to understand about fighting the devil.
The battleground is the mind. Paul states that though we walk in the flesh we cannot war in the flesh. For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but are mighty through God, to the pulling down of strongholds (2 Corinthians 10:3-5).
The battle gear is the full armor of God, which allows the believer to stand against the wiles of the devil (Ephesians 6:11).
The battle grind is the day-to-day activity that a soldier engages in that allows him to advance the Kingdom and gain more soles.
We are Kingdom citizens and weather you want to or not you/we are in a fight with the devil. Spiritual warfare will follow the Kingdom citizen where ever He/she goes, so you must understand the battleground, gear and grind. Remember you are already victorious.
Understand this, the enemy strategy is to wear the believer down, to cause him/her to become tired. The believer is more vulnerable when the are tired.
The navy seals when they are training new recruits in there program. Towards the end of training if they make it that far, the trainer will have recruit put on shorts and a t-shirt, take to the cold beach and they will set together for 36 hours. The believer nothing will make a man question his purpose more the when he is tired and hunger.
The enemy desires to tire you out.
The devil does not care that God told you He will be with you always and only be strong and courageous.
The devil wants to tire you out to the point that you will forfeit all the promises of God.
The devil fought you on some things and you got tired.
When you got tire you didn’t want that education anymore. The devil fought you on having your own business but you got tired.
The devil made you question your purpose in God.
Conclusion
Stay in the fight.
Fight for what God has given you.
1 Corinthians 9:24 NKJV
24 Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
