Main point - Jesus gives peace and will ALWAYS see you through
Have you ever seen a tornado in person?
Story about a tornado
Isaiah 41:10 NIV
10 So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.
You have probably noticed that life is not always what you expect it to be...
Luke 8:22–25 NIV
22 One day Jesus said to his disciples, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.” So they got into a boat and set out. 23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger. 24 The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Master, Master, we’re going to drown!” He got up and rebuked the wind and the raging waters; the storm subsided, and all was calm. 25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples. In fear and amazement they asked one another, “Who is this? He commands even the winds and the water, and they obey him.”
Break Down the Passage
Start at verse 1…Then continue through
Luke 8:23 NIV
23 As they sailed, he fell asleep. A squall came down on the lake, so that the boat was being swamped, and they were in great danger.
Jesus We all experience Squalls in life
John 16:33 NIV
33 “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
Luke 8:25 (NIV)
25 “Where is your faith?” he asked his disciples.

Where - in the Greek has 2 meanings

1. Where as in a location

2. Where as in “In What Part?”

I believe Jesus isn’t just asking where is your faith, but What is your Faith in?

There is something amazing that happens here…They answered the Call of Jesus, “Let us go over to the other side of the lake.”
In our journeying with Christ we don’t always know the reason He leads us into situations, but we need to trust that He will always accomplish what He Said and is doing in and through us!

What is your faith in??

We spend time talking about building our faith and not having doubt (I have done it too), but God has given me a revelation of Who He is and that if we want to overcome fear in our situation it has very little to do with faith!

What is your faith in?

Before you check out thinking I have lost it. What if there is a greater picture of God waiting for you.
Let’s do this together…I need some readers...
Psalm 34:4
Joshua 1:9
2 Timothy 1:6-7
Romans 8:35-39
John 14:27-28
Matthew 6:25-34
What do these all have in common?
They are all about not having fear through relationship with God.
When the storms of life come we don’t need to hold onto the faith that we have, but hold onto the relationship and love and intestacy of God.
1 John 4:18–19 NIV
18 There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. 19 We love because he first loved us.
When you choose to love as God has loved your first you will not have fear when the squalls come.
Faith is the first step in the relationship with Christ Jesus. Then your relationship needs to grow beyond faith into true love and communion with Jesus Christ!
I believe this is shown in Romans 10:17
Romans 10:17 NIV
17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
But that verse is all about faith and growing in your faith!
The Context is not growing in faith for hard times in life...
Romans 10:1–18 NIV
1 Brothers and sisters, my heart’s desire and prayer to God for the Israelites is that they may be saved. 2 For I can testify about them that they are zealous for God, but their zeal is not based on knowledge. 3 Since they did not know the righteousness of God and sought to establish their own, they did not submit to God’s righteousness. 4 Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes. 5 Moses writes this about the righteousness that is by the law: “The person who does these things will live by them.” 6 But the righteousness that is by faith says: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ down) 7 “or ‘Who will descend into the deep?’ ” (that is, to bring Christ up from the dead). 8 But what does it say? “The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,” that is, the message concerning faith that we proclaim: 9 If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” 16 But not all the Israelites accepted the good news. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our message?” 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. 18 But I ask: Did they not hear? Of course they did: “Their voice has gone out into all the earth, their words to the ends of the world.”
It is clear in context the word Faith could be replaced by salvation in this passage.
Without faith is for your salvation. Jesus doesn’t want you to stop here. He wants your love and relationship.

Jesus said “where is your faith?”

Where does your salvation lie?
In this boat, your ability as sailors, in the blue skies
Or does it rest in me who has already told we were going to the other side?
So I want to ask you the Real Question...

Where is your Love?

King David Loved God so passionately wrote...
Psalm 16:5–11 (NIV)
5 Lord, you alone are my portion and my cup; you make my lot secure.
6 The boundary lines have fallen for me in pleasant places; surely I have a delightful inheritance.
7 I will praise the Lord, who counsels me; even at night my heart instructs me.
8 I keep my eyes always on the Lord. With him at my right hand, I will not be shaken.
9 Therefore my heart is glad and my tongue rejoices; my body also will rest secure,
10 because you will not abandon me to the realm of the dead, nor will you let your faithful one see decay.
11 You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
His Love was in God. His portion was God alone. When we let the others things in life blur our vision we may stop following Jesus into the boat out of love, but out of obligation.
David said You make known to me the path of life (heaven), but don’t stop there...
If the Lord allows…have you ever thought about “where do you see yourself with Christ in 10 Years…5 Years…1 Year....Tomorrow?”
When I got married I had faith that one day we would have a house, kids, do ministry together....
But it was through the Love and Relationship that grow everyday that we got to those places…and I have hopes for the next 50 years, 20 years, 10 years, next year and this week!

Fall in Love with Jesus today or again!
Revelation 2:2–5 NIV
2 I know your deeds, your hard work and your perseverance. I know that you cannot tolerate wicked people, that you have tested those who claim to be apostles but are not, and have found them false. 3 You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name, and have not grown weary. 4 Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken the love you had at first. 5 Consider how far you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.
They had a lot of knowledge and understanding and commitment to Christ, but they struggled in love.
It is love that will give you the vision from God for the path of your life. You may be in that boat now facing a storm or you may be smooth sailing or you may not have gotten into the boat yet.
Put your salvation in Christ and cling to Him with all your love and build a powerful relationship not just a strong commitment.
If you would like prayer to return to your first love or get in the boat and find real love and freedom from fear I want to pray with you!
