Just Be The Man – Man Church 8/5/2021
Proverbs 25:28 He that hath no rule over his own spirit is like a city that is broken down, and without walls.
God is listening, even without prayer, which is all the more reason for us to be praying.
Exodus 17:1-7 – God meeting the needs of the people even when they chose murmuring over praying.
Matthew 6:33 "But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you."
All what things? Well, let’s look back and see. Matthew 6:
All things being all the things God knows that we need.
Does that mean we can be as the animals of the earth whom God feeds?
What does the Bible say?
Genesis 3:17-19
There you have it, the Bible proclaims that we shall work, by the sweat of our brow, to be fed.
The Bible also says, For even when we were with you, this we commanded you, that if any would not work, neither should he eat. 2 Thessalonians 3:10.
One might ask about extenuating circumstances such as retirement of such as that. Well, first of all the Bible never speaks of retiring. Secondly, even in retirement there is work to be done.
My point isn’t about retirement, it’s that the word of God does not make exception to the word of God.
Men are to be men and we are to work.
What else does the Bible say about men?
Men are to be courageous. We are to be strong. The Bible calls on us to be strong and courageous. We see this in Deuteronomy 31 & Joshua 1.
Now one might say, well that was to Joshua, he was the leader of a nation. Are we not called to be the leaders of our families? Of course, we are.
Even the Gentiles used this mantra: 1 Samuel 4:9 Be strong, and quit yourselves like men, O ye Philistines, that ye be not servants unto the Hebrews, as they have been to you: quit yourselves like men, and fight.
To what end or means are we to be strong and courageous? For our families, even unto death. Christ died for the Church; we must be willing to die for our families.
We fight for our families and sometimes the enemy is us. Our battle is not always a physical one. Sometimes it’s spiritual and I don’t mean spiritual warfare so much just battling sin in our lives.
Christ died for the sins of the world – but are we willing to die to our own sins for the sake of our families? While it’s true, sin can ruin a man’s life but in doing so we must also recognize that it can destroy our families as well.
So, what do we do with our sins? The easy answer is to stop sinning. The more difficult answer is that we are to be strong and courageous as we Battle them. How do we battle them? With the Word of God.
Start by asking yourself, what does the Bible say about my sine? Saying that God understands your sin because it’s your nature or you were born this way are not acceptable answers.
First of all is that even true – example being, I was born a womanizer. Really? How many of you believe that? Oh, I could defend it with many a lame reasonings but the reality of it is that I was taught to be or deceived into believing that I am or was this way or that way.
So now what? We come to a place of prayer. To which some would say, I have prayed!
Then repent, (change your way of thinking about God). Claim the promises of God first and foremost, and then BELIEVE them! You believe in God, believe in His promises as well.
Believe that He loves you; believe that He hears you: believe that He wants the very best for you; believe that He wants to see you delivered from your sin.
However, do not expect GOD to dictate His authority over you. You must do that!
· 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
· 1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
· 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;) 5 Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ; 6 And having in a readiness to revenge all disobedience, when your obedience is fulfilled.
· Romans 8:13 For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.
· Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
Make sure you are leaning on God.
