Thesis: Sometimes in this life as we try to fulfill the calling on our lives we will feel abandoned and left with no choices but to lean to our own understanding. ut that isn’t the answer; the answer is to always trust and depend on God to bring your destiny into reality.

Introduction:

In this text we see today the Lord has broken through the silence and chaos that defined the life of David at this time. I submit to you that there are times in our lives when we only hear silence and experience chaos to the point that it drives us to act outside of our character. It causes us who used to pray to lie and cheat, those who were formerly determined to continue in service to God to cease and desist, those who were formerly walking in their purpose but because of the silence of their friends and chaos caused by their enemies are now walking contrary to their purpose because of their circumstances. But can I help you? I want you to understand that you don’t have to be a prisoner of your circumstances, danger can not change your destiny, that feelings of fear won’t change your fellowship, fake friends won’t change your favor. Remember that God is a very present help in times of trouble and when it seems that all hope is lost and you have run out of moves God still has one more move.

Exposition:

As delve into this very popular and well read and often used Psalm, we must also look at the circumstances that inspired the writer. If we look at 1 Samuel 21 we see the cotext of the writer. David the man after God’s own heart, anointed to lead yet he is on the run from the one whom he has displaced. David has been running so long that he has come to the place that he wants to lean to his own understanding rather than depend on God. David has eaten bread not appointed to him and accepted a weapon that was wasn’t designed for him. He is now on the run once more and he seeks to hide in plain sight amongst his enemies. Yes the Philistines of whom he has killed their champion Goliath. The BIBLE SAYS 10 And David arose, and fled that day for fear of Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. 11 And the servants of Achish said unto him, Is not this David the king of the land? did they not sing one to another of him in dances, saying, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands?

David was trying to live down his notoriety
we can’t escape who we are in and because of the Lord
you will be recognized

12 And David laid up these words in his heart, and was sore afraid of Achish the king of Gath.

fear of how people will react when your identity is revealed should not illicit fear but faith
many times we are so ready to escape our circumstances that we resort to hiding rather than relying on our help.

13 And he changed his behaviour before them, and feigned himself mad in their hands, and scrabbled on the doors of the gate, and let his spittle fall down upon his beard.

David started acting like a fool
How often do we try to act a fool inorder that we won’t be identified
David began to drool at the mouth faking foolishness
can i talk to a few young men and women this morning. You can’t change who you are just because you start acting other than...

14 Then said Achish unto his servants, Lo, ye see the man is mad: wherefore then have ye brought him to me? 15 Have I need of mad men, that ye have brought this fellow to play the mad man in my presence? shall this fellow come into my house?

David Got what he wanted and he fled down to the cave of Addullam
It is here that this Psalm was conceived because the BIBLE says

22 David therefore departed thence, and escaped to the cave Adullam: and when his brethren and all his father’s house heard it, they went down thither to him. 2 And every one that was in distress, and every one that was in debt, and every one that was discontented, gathered themselves unto him; and he became a captain over them: and there were with him about four hundred men.

In his despair God showed him that if he be for him He was more than the world against him it is here at this moment that God breaks through the silence and affects Davids heart so much so that he pens this Psalm that begins with a renewed excitement and expectancy for and from God.

1  I will bless the LORD at all times:

His praise shall continually be in my mouth.

2  My soul shall make her boast in the LORD:

The humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.

3  O magnify the LORD with me,

And let us exalt his name together.

Even in difficulty I’m gonna praise him
my soul has a new attitude
It’s so good why don’t you help me and magnify Him together

4  I sought the LORD, and he heard me,

And delivered me from all my fears.

5  They looked unto him, and were lightened:

And their faces were not ashamed.

6  This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him,

And saved him out of all his troubles.

I sought Him and he heard me, delivered me, lightened me, showed me I wasn’t in it by myself, He saved me
The angel was encamped about me
Why don’t you try Him : Oh taste and see that the Lord is Good
All you have to do is seek Him and your want will be supplied...
David goes on to say thateven in the midst of a terrible and perverse world with enemies every where there is a place of refuge: If you just

14  Depart from evil, and do good;

Seek peace, and pursue it.

15  The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous,

And his ears are open unto their cry.

16  The face of the LORD is against them that do evil,

To cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.

17  The righteous cry, and the LORD heareth,

And delivereth them out of all their troubles.

Now as we come to the scripture that Chose me this morning” : I can say that I am afflicted but not abandoned because there is

THE STUFF I CAN’T ESCAPE HE WILL BRING ME OUT OF

King James Version (Psalm 34)
19  Many are the afflictions of the righteous:But the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

Affliction. Anything causing pain or distress; suffering; calamity.

affliction began when sin entered in
both mankind and the creation are afflicted with thorn and thistle

It is impossible for human beings to avoid natural calamity, physical injury, and interpersonal conflict (2 Chr 20:9). Yet God uses affliction to instruct and discipline his people.

It is in the affliction that the hand of God’e affection comes forth
yes i’m broken but I’m healed, disenfranchised but delivered…YES I am afflicted but I don’t feel abandoned anymore butI don't feel no ways tired, I've come too far from where I started from. Nobody told me that the road would be easy, I don't believe He brought me this far to leave me.
20  He keepeth all his bones:Not one of them is broken.

THE DITCH THEY DUG FOR ME WILL BE OCCUPIED BY THEM

21  Evil shall slay the wicked:And they that hate the righteous shall be desolate.
Don’t worry about what they are doing, saying, insenuating, lying about,
their hate for you will seal their fate
Their hate will render them desolate or found guilty
our hearts intentions will be revealed in our love walk towards others

THEIR VIEW OF ME DOESN’T CHANGE WHO I AM TO HIM

22  The LORD redeemeth the soul of his servants:And none of them that trust in him shall be desolate.
My life is hid in Christ. I have been purchased by His blood, there is no condemnation for them who trust Him
My feelings may get hurt by my soul is redeemed
my reputation may take a hit but my soul is redeemed
my friends may walk away and i may seem abandoned but my soul is redeemed :
What a friend we have in Jesus All our sins and griefs to bear What a privilege to carry Everything to God in prayer
Oh, what peace we often forfeit Oh, what needless pain we bear All because we do not carry Everything to God in prayer
Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged Take it to the Lord in prayer
Can we find a friend so faithful Who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness Take it to the Lord in prayer
