1) Every human being reflects the image of God . Genesis 1:27 declares, “God created humankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them, male and female he created them.” The passage describes the inherent dignity that God assigns to humanity. Later in scripture, we see that God places utmost significance on the preservation of His image. Under the covenant with Noah, God explains in Genesis 9:6 that He will require the life of man or beast if they spill the blood of a person. Human life is sacred because the image of God is sacred.

2) As God’s image bearer, every person reflects the image of God in a unique way. In Isaiah 49:1 and Jeremiah 1:5, the Lord calls men to be prophets before He forms them. He gave them unique gifts (physical, mental, spiritual, etc.) to fulfill his plan for their lives. Their genetic make up was part of that unique design and plan.

3) God knows the content and details of each life prior to conception. In Psalm 139:13-16 God’s word declares that He formed every part of every human life and our days were planned before they even began. By changing genetic sequencing, one is changing what God has made. It also appears to alter the intent of God’s design on the interaction of His image with His creation.
