24 A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
1. Ministry is about relationship, you cannot truly minister to people you are not in relationship with.

14 I do not write these things to shame you, but as my beloved children I warn you. 15 For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel. 16 Therefore I urge you, imitate me. 17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church. 18 Now some are puffed up, as though I were not coming to you. 19 But I will come to you shortly, if the Lord wills, and I will know, not the word of those who are puffed up, but the power. 20 For the kingdom of God is not in word but in power. 21 What do you want? Shall I come to you with a rod, or in love and a spirit of gentleness?
Focus Verse:
15 For though you might have ten thousand instructors in Christ, yet you do not have many fathers; for in Christ Jesus I have begotten you through the gospel.
The Lord has Put spiritual parents in the church that we might grow. but we’d rather feel good than produce fruit.
The apostle Peal reminds the Corinthians that he is their spiritual father.
Not only is he their spiritual father, but he has other “children”.
17 For this reason I have sent Timothy to you, who is my beloved and faithful son in the Lord, who will remind you of my ways in Christ, as I teach everywhere in every church.
where and to whom is your Ministry submitted?
do they know you are submitted by your actions?
who could send you to teach in their stead?
have you ever given them the impression that you are more advanced then where they are ?
if you have, is that how the Lord Jesus would have handled it?
16 But Jesus called them to Him and said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of God.
13 Now I do not want you to be unaware, brethren, that I often planned to come to you (but was hindered until now), that I might have some fruit among you also, just as among the other Gentiles.
2. There are no lone rangers in Ministry.
2. There are no lone rangers in Ministry.
12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ. 13 For by one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—whether Jews or Greeks, whether slaves or free—and have all been made to drink into one Spirit. 14 For in fact the body is not one member but many. 15 If the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I am not of the body,” is it therefore not of the body? 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would be the hearing? If the whole were hearing, where would be the smelling? 18 But now God has set the members, each one of them, in the body just as He pleased. 19 And if they were all one member, where would the body be? 20 But now indeed there are many members, yet one body. 21 And the eye cannot say to the hand, “I have no need of you”; nor again the head to the feet, “I have no need of you.” 22 No, much rather, those members of the body which seem to be weaker are necessary. 23 And those members of the body which we think to be less honorable, on these we bestow greater honor; and our unpresentable parts have greater modesty, 24 but our presentable parts have no need. But God composed the body, having given greater honor to that part which lacks it, 25 that there should be no schism in the body, but that the members should have the same care for one another. 26 And if one member suffers, all the members suffer with it; or if one member is honored, all the members rejoice with it.
of course you should know as much as you can about your own ministry.
you should also know (and not be scared by) your own limitations.
do you have respect for all levels of Gifts? or are you so scared that you are not going to get where you are going.
do you know what gifts you need?
can you receive as well as you give.
31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged. 32 And the spirits of the prophets are subject to the prophets. 33 For God is not the author of confusion but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints.
3. Have life giving relationships.
3. Have life giving relationships.
24 And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.
first of all I want to consider you..
your story.
your heart desire.
your hopes.
your dreams.
your disappointments.
notice I did not say your gifts and ministries.
stir up love
why do we need to stir up love? because the world teaches us to hold on to pain and resentment.
I think one of the reasons I think we hold on to the hurts of the past is because when we tell the story of our lives, if we can talk about the wrongs done to us, then that excuses my bad behavior.
it does not.
we know right from wrong, we do what we do most often because we want to.
owning that is hard. make sure you get back to stirring up love and good works.
lets not forsake the gathering of ourself together.
we need to exhort one another even more so as you see the day approaching.
