John 13:1 ESV

1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, he loved them to the end.

a new command I give you, Love one another....as I have loved you.

Jesus reconnected us to the Lord and the Law by

fullfilling the law that was weakened by the flesh.

and updating the law by saying, do as I have done. Love like me.

No longer are we asked to just do the right things, we are challenged to think and feel the right things. Not that we will succeed, but that we will find ourselves utterly sinful, in need of the only righteousness we have. the righteousness that comes from the atonement of the Son of God.
