I. They Ministered To The Lord vs. 1-2a

A. There were multiple ministers in Antioch. Not only because of size, but because it is biblical to have called out men. It takes time and dedication, before that happens. As we will see, some will stay, while others will be called and sent out.
B. Some translations say worship, others say serving, still others say ministering. Our worship and serving is all done out of the overflow of our walk with God. Worship is not just singing songs, and preaching; it is a lifestyle that is Godward. Meaning that everything about you and your life is done for the glory of God and others. If your worship is just singing songs or just preaching then it’s not worship, it is an act done for others to see you and pat you on your Pharisaical back!

II. They Fasted vs. 2b

A. Before a great work of God two things are usually present. Prayer and fasting.
B. Prayer that God’s will not your own be done. Prayer that God would use you, work in you.
C. Fasting either from food, or another pleasure and devoting the time you would spend doing that to prayer.
D. If your yes is on the table then God will send you, some times to the most unexpected places. (Billy Graham, Missionaries, Micheal Catt ex)

III. They Prayed vs. 3

A. After being called out. They prayed.
B. They prayed for open doors.
Colossians 4:3 NASB95
praying at the same time for us as well, that God will open up to us a door for the word, so that we may speak forth the mystery of Christ, for which I have also been imprisoned;
C. They prayed for open mouths
Colossians 4:4 NASB95
that I may make it clear in the way I ought to speak.
D. They prayed for new converts.
1 Thessalonians 3:9–13 NASB95
For what thanks can we render to God for you in return for all the joy with which we rejoice before our God on your account, as we night and day keep praying most earnestly that we may see your face, and may complete what is lacking in your faith? Now may our God and Father Himself and Jesus our Lord direct our way to you; and may the Lord cause you to increase and abound in love for one another, and for all people, just as we also do for you; so that He may establish your hearts without blame in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all His saints.
E. They prayed for their enemies.
Romans 10:1 NASB95
Brethren, my heart’s desire and my prayer to God for them is for their salvation.
Acts 7:60 NASB95
Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” Having said this, he fell asleep.
Matthew 5:44 NASB95
“But I say to you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,
