St. Louis Night 2
Bottomline: Don’t let the expectations of others rob you of the gift of expectancy that God has for you.
Be faithful in all things. Sometimes we find our calling for something big in the midst of something small.
Sometimes God calls us to something significant in the midst of something insignificant.
Don’t let the weight of expectations keep you from facing your giants.
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
God created you to fulfill His purposes with exactly what you have and who you are.
What was best for Saul. What made Saul great and mighty. Was what would hold back David from becoming a great warrior and fulfill his God given mission.
Love the mission more than the methods.
Therefore, in order to keep me from becoming conceited, I was given a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 8 Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. 9 But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. 10 That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.
Proper identity is the antidote to burdensome expectations that can rob us of intimacy with God.
28 “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
