Jeremiah 33:1–3 KJV 1900
1 Moreover the word of the Lord came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying, 2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name; 3 Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

Pre-Sermon Ice Breaker

A man takes his rottweiler to the vet. “My dog is cross-eyed,” he says, “is there anything you can do for him?” “Well,” says the vet, “Let’s have a look at him.” He picks up the dog, examines his eyes, and teeth, finally he says, “I’m going to have to put him down.” Aghast the owner says, “Because he is cross-eyed?” The vet says, “No, because he is really heavy!”

Introduction

Call Me
· Several years, ago Max Lucado shared these words in the Oak Hills newsletter: “The most incredible invitations are not found in envelopes or fortune cookies, they are found in your Bible.”
· We find one such invitation this morning in Jeremiah 33:3
Review of Series
· We are engaged in the 2021 Scripture Memory Challenge.
· Each Sunday we share a new Scripture Memory Verse. Which I preach on and then on Wednesday night we look more closely at that verse examining it in context. Today we look at maybe the most familiar verse in all of Jeremiah as we explore Jeremiah 33:3
Our Text
· Jeremiah means “Yahweh Establishes.”
· Jeremiah records these verses while he was imprisoned in the court of the guard. Jerusalem was under siege. Jeremiah’s country men were depraved and rebellious against God. God would use the hardship of captivity to draw them back to Him.
· Throughout our study of the Old Testament last year we have looked for Jesus in the Old Testament. Once again we find him here in this passage
Jeremiah 33:2 KJV 1900
2 Thus saith the Lord the maker thereof, the Lord that formed it, to establish it; the Lord is his name;
· God here assures Jeremiah that he had only call upon him, and god would answer. We can also call upon God. Let’s look at this passage together.
