Last week we talked about the importance of prayer in our individual lives and as well as the foundation for the Church.

We went over four major types of prayer including:

Adoration

Confession

Thanksgiving

Supplication

James 5:16 NKJV

16 Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.

16 Confesaos vuestras ofensas unos a otros, y orad unos por otros, para que seáis sanados. La oración eficaz del justo puede mucho.

Prayer is the foundation of everything we do as a family.

CORE VALUE: Discipleship VALOR PRINCIPAL: Discipulado

Discipleship is such a popular church word because it is part of the Great Commission of Jesus to all His followers.

Matthew 28:19–20 NKJV

19 Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Amen.

19 Por tanto, id, y haced discípulos a todas las naciones, bautizándolos en el nombre del Padre, y del Hijo, y del Espíritu Santo; 20 enseñándoles que guarden todas las cosas que os he mandado; y he aquí yo estoy con vosotros todos los días, hasta el fin del mundo. Amén.

A disciple is a devout follower. This passage reveals 3 groups:

The Ones Jesus is commanding to “go”

The Followers

The One being followed

Understand that the focus of the Great Commission is not on those Jesus was talking to, nor the ones becoming disciples. The focus is found in verse 18

Matthew 28:18 NKJV

18 And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.

18 Y Jesús se acercó y les habló diciendo: Toda potestad me es dada en el cielo y en la tierra.

Jesus has all AUTHORITY and is the ONE that must be followed.

2. He does not call us to have disciples follow us. That is key! If they are following anything, it is the way WE are following JESUS.

3. We must be good followers

It was a big deal to Jesus that the world see the disciples following Jesus as an example they should emulate.
