Ephesians 1:3-14
Ephesians 1:3-14
How has God saved us?
What did God do to save us?
Many of us know that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, but when the bible talks about salvation, it is so much bigger and grander than we can even imagine.
So what did God do to save us? Lets see how the triune God saves us:
The Father- V. 3-6
God has gave us every spiritual blessing possible through Jesus
He chose us before the world even began to be saved, because God wanted to save us and make us holy
God had to choose us because we would never choose Him on our own (Rom. 3:10-11)
We were adopted as children of God according to God’s will
The Son- V. 7-12
God lavished His grace on us through the work that Jesus did
In Jesus we have been redeemed, meaning the debt that we owed because of our sin, Christ paid it
God has revealed that in Jesus, He is making all things new. Our world is corrupt, and their is pain, death, and sin everywhere we turn, but Christ in dying for us is renewing the world.
As adopted children of God we have an inheritance, thats waiting on us, and its this promise that actually makes us live bravely and boldly and with hope.
The Spirit- V. 13-14
The Holy Spirit seals us, another way to state this is that He is our down payment, that inheritance is redeemed.
So stated clearly:
To be a child of God, means that we’re chosen and adopted, not because we were good enough but because of what Jesus has done, and God promises us that once we are truly His that He will never let us go, because the Holy Spirit seals us in until this life is over.
