Are You Growing In Your Salvation?
Are You Growing In Your Salvation?
Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,
like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
We are called to demonstrate our Living Hope In Front Of A Lost World! In order to do that, we must continue to grow in respect to our salvation!
So, today. let’s explore some dynamic truths related to our salvation!
I. The RELATIONSHIP we RECEIVE from Heaven!
If you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each one’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay on earth;
What is the relationship mentioned in verse 17? God as our Father
If we address God as our Father, how should we conduct our lives during our stay on earth? Conduct yourselves in FEAR (reverence, awe, honor)
knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers,
but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ.
What does it mean to be “redeemed?” It means to be purchased, bought back, delivered, changed
What was required for us to be redeemed? The precious, priceless, powerful Blood of Christ
When was the price of our redemption agreed to? For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world
Now the God of peace, who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep through the blood of the eternal covenant, even Jesus our Lord,
II. The LOVE we EXTEND to Believers!
Since you have in obedience to the truth purified your souls for a sincere love of the brethren, fervently love one another from the heart,
What does our “obedience to the truth” do for us? It results in purifying our souls
How does a purified soul manifest itself toward other Believers? A sincere love of the Brethren—fervently loving one another—from the heart
The word “love” is mentioned twice in verse 22, but it is two different words that describe two different loves!
The first kind of love is a brotherly love (Philadelphia), and this love comes from a CHOICE that we make in sincerity
The second kind love is a godly love (Agape), and this love comes from a RELATIONSHIP that we have with God and it is to flow out of us fervently (to stretch to the limit)
III. The WORD we HEARD from Messengers!
for you have been born again not of seed which is perishable but imperishable, that is, through the living and enduring word of God.
For, “All flesh is like grass, And all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, And the flower falls off,
We are born again from SEED that is SOWN into us by Messengers and after we have HEARD it, Holy Spirit IMPLANTS it in our Soul!
According to Jesus, the devil comes and tries to steal the SEED out of our Soul!
“Now the parable is this: the seed is the word of God.
“Those beside the road are those who have heard; then the devil comes and takes away the word from their heart, so that they will not believe and be saved.
“But the seed in the good soil, these are the ones who have heard the word in an honest and good heart, and hold it fast, and bear fruit with perseverance.
The SEED/WORD that is implanted in our soul by Holy Spirit is unfailing and permanent!
But the word of the Lord endures forever.” And this is the word which was preached to you.
The first word for WORD in verse 25 is LOGOS but the second word for WORD in verse 25 is RHEMA!
What are some distinctions between LOGOS and RHEMA?
IV. The GROWTH we DEMONSTRATE on Earth!
Therefore, putting aside all malice and all deceit and hypocrisy and envy and all slander,
We demonstrate our growth in our salvation by the things that we DISCARD from our lives such as: Malice, Deceit, Hypocrisy, Envy and Slander
We demonstrate our growth in our salvation also by the things that we DESIRE such as:
like newborn babies, long for the pure milk of the word, so that by it you may grow in respect to salvation,
Notice the people who will demonstrate growth in regards to their salvation through the things they DISCARD and through the things they DESIRE:
if you have tasted the kindness of the Lord.
What does the word “TASTED” mean? to chew and then swallow with enjoyment and satisfaction
What have we “Tasted” (chewed and then swallowed with enjoyment and satisfaction)? The Kindness, Goodness, Mercy, Favor, Blessing, Grace of the Lord!
