Promise

Acts 18:10 (ESV)

...I have many in this city who are my people.”

Matthew 9:35–38 ESV

And Jesus went throughout all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues and proclaiming the gospel of the kingdom and healing every disease and every affliction. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion for them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

We must pray that God’s people will reach people.

How do God’s people reach people?

By following the example of Jesus. (35)

Jesus went

Jesus taught

Jesus healed

By having the compassion of Jesus (36)

people are spiritually destitute

people need a shepherd

By possessing the insight of Jesus (37-38)

There are many people ready to be reached but not enough people to reach them.

People effectively reach people when they are sent by God. (38)

Prayer is the first step to reaching people (38)
