Acts Chapter 1-5

1. Chapter 1 – The Church’s Birth.

• Who is the Holy Spirit, and what does He do for the Believer? (1:1-8).

• Can you imagine watching Jesus ascending to heaven? What words would you have used to describe this event? (1:9-11).

• Where did the disciples go after the ascension and what was the purpose of them going there? (1:12-26).

2. Chapter 2 – The Holy Spirit

• What does it mean to be “filled with the Holy Spirit?” What is the true evidence of being filled with the Holy Spirit? Each of them heard them in their own language. Was they speaking in their language or did they understand even thou they spoke in a different language? (2:1-13).

• What was Peter’s explanation of the events of Pentecost? Who did he say crucified Jesus? Why was Jesus crucified? What was King David’s prophecy and how did it pertain to Jesus? (2:14-36)

• What did Peter tell the people they needed to do when they were convicted of their sins? What did those who received his word do in response to Peter’s message? How many people were baptized? As evidence of their conversion what did they do as believers? (2:37-47).

3. Chapter 3 – The beginning of more Miracles

• Peter and John perform a miracle on their way to the temple. Notice the “lame beggar” did not ask to be healed, what did he ask for and what did he get? What were the results of this miracle? (3:1-10)

• What did Peter attribute to the healing of the beggar? Because of this healing, what was Peter able to do? What did he tell the people they needed to do in response to his sermon? (3:11-26).

4. Chapter 4 – Peter and John are Arrested

• Why was Peter and John arrested? How many men believed their message? What was Peter’s message to the religious leaders? Who did he blame Jesus’s crucifixion? (4:5-12)

• What was Peter and John response to the leaders request not to speak in Jesus’ name any longer? (4:13-22).

• What did they do after they were released by the religious leaders? What did they ask God to do for them? (4:23-31)

• What does it mean to be of one heart and soul? What was the results of the apostles’ testimony to the resurrection of Jesus? Who is Barnabas? (4:32-37)

5. Chapter 5 – Don’t lie to God

• Who was Ananias and Sapphira? What was their sin? What happened to them? Why do you think God dealt so severely with them? (5:1-16).

• Why were the apostles put in jail? What happen to them during the night? What was Peter’s message to the religious leaders? (5:17-32)

• Who was Gamaliel and what counsel did he give to the religious leaders? What happened to the apostles because of his counsel, and what was their response? (5:33-42).
