The Christianese phrase or question… what are you believing for? Weird as it may be the phrase speaks to the work of faith we profess.
No matter what we are believing for or how we are believing we have allowed our faith to define the way our conduct will be shaped.

The fruits of faith are the results of what we have aligned our beliefs with.

Galatians 2:15–16 (ESV)
We ourselves are Jews by birth and not Gentile sinners;
yet we know that a person is not justified by works of the law but through the faith of Jesus Christ, so we also have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ and not by works of the law, because by works of the law no one will be justified.
Paul is working on deconflicting the effects of works and faith.
important to know that in the original this reads as the faith “of” genentive belonging to
In the human part of who Christ is there is a measure of faith He had to have to in order to believe the promises of God
His faith produces justification and righteousness for those who would believe in Him
Phil 2:5-9 The faith of Jesus led Him to
not hold Himself above but to sacrifice Himself
Trust God in His human form
Dies believing He would be raised to life
With the faith that He would be able to bring eternal life to His beloved you and me

Urged to have Faith

Matthew 8:5–11 ESV
When he had entered Capernaum, a centurion came forward to him, appealing to him, “Lord, my servant is lying paralyzed at home, suffering terribly.” And he said to him, “I will come and heal him.” But the centurion replied, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you come under my roof, but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man under authority, with soldiers under me. And I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it.” When Jesus heard this, he marveled and said to those who followed him, “Truly, I tell you, with no one in Israel have I found such faith. I tell you, many will come from east and west and recline at table with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven,
Many of the house had come to see what Jesus was doing
Centurion belonged to the Roman Guard
For the centurion it was one of his own… For us the testing of our faith can happen in many ways
We turn to Christ and ask Him to say the word and we believe it.
matt 12:38
Many are waiting to see a sign
The word of God substantiates miracles not the other way around (Believe in His word and not just in what we see)
Our faith will bear fruits, what it bears is based on what we believe of people and situations

Products of Faith

Trouble in the little or Unbelief
Matthew 8:26 ESV
And he said to them, “Why are you afraid, O you of little faith?” Then he rose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
The storm came and began to beat on the boat the disciples were left terrified
Jesus reproves them “O you of little Faith”
They were terrified
Unsure if there was a way to calm the storm
When you are going through the storm you must learn to lean on Christ
Anxiety, Lack, Fear, Trouble...
Heb 10:39
There are those who will surrender their faith
The backsliding in their faith can lead to their destruction
Greatness in Faith
Hebrews 11:32–34 ESV
And what more shall I say? For time would fail me to tell of Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, of David and Samuel and the prophets— who through faith conquered kingdoms, enforced justice, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, were made strong out of weakness, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.
Hebrews 11:39–40 ESV
And all these, though commended through their faith, did not receive what was promised, since God had provided something better for us, that apart from us they should not be made perfect.
Author of Hebrews goes through the List of witnesses that persevered in faith and received commendation for doing so
Yet those hosts are waiting for us as faith in us produces;
Justification Rom 5:1
Reconciliation 2 Cor 5:18
Redemption Eph 1:7
Life Eph 2:5
Adoption into the Kingdom Rom 8:15-16
Made New 2 Cor 5:17
Set Free Gal 5:1
Our faith in Christ produces the fruits of the promises found in Him

The Greatest Gift

1 Timothy 1:12–20 ESV
I thank him who has given me strength, Christ Jesus our Lord, because he judged me faithful, appointing me to his service, though formerly I was a blasphemer, persecutor, and insolent opponent. But I received mercy because I had acted ignorantly in unbelief, and the grace of our Lord overflowed for me with the faith and love that are in Christ Jesus. The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost. But I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience as an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life. To the King of the ages, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen. This charge I entrust to you, Timothy, my child, in accordance with the prophecies previously made about you, that by them you may wage the good warfare, holding faith and a good conscience. By rejecting this, some have made shipwreck of their faith, among whom are Hymenaeus and Alexander, whom I have handed over to Satan that they may learn not to blaspheme.
Start walking to be found faithful
Your Life will be forever changed
Through your faith God will reveal His characteristics
Timothy had been prophesied over there were those who contended against what was prophesied about him...
Have faith in what was prophesied, this word Given by the Lord will enable you
to fight the good fight
maintain a good conscience (even when “godly” people say different
Section closes with a very stern word for those who would speak against what the Lord has prophesied… they are found as blasphemers.
This is how much the Lord wants you to believe in what has been prophesied about you.
God knows your imperfections… Paul a blasphemer, persecutor, and an opponent…
Your faith will yield a fruit, the fruit will depend on how you hold to His word, His promises, His prophetic word over you life and not what is seen in the natural.
