How Passionately We Pray

In His famous Sermon on the Mount, Jesus called His followers to persistent prayer with a pure heart with the promise of reward.
Matthew 6:5–6 NKJV
5 “And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. 6 But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly.
As always, motives matter. “We are rewarded by the person whose praise we seek.”
Devoted prayer done in secret will be rewarded openly by the Lord when He comes.

How Faithfully We Look for Christ’s Coming

The second coming of Jesus Christ is mentioned more than 300 times in the 260 chapters of the New Testament—that comes out to one of every thirty verses.
Jesus Himself referred to His second coming at least twenty-one times.
People are exhorted more than fifty times to be ready for the return of Jesus Christ.
Looking for Christ’s coming and preparing for it by living a godly life will bring reward to us.
He is looking for people who are looking for Him.
The apostle Paul lived with this attitude of expectancy: (2 Timothy 4:8)
2 Timothy 4:8 NKJV
8 Finally, there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will give to me on that Day, and not to me only but also to all who have loved His appearing.
And with Jesus’ own words he stated...
Luke 12:35–38 NKJV
35 “Let your waist be girded and your lamps burning; 36 and you yourselves be like men who wait for their master, when he will return from the wedding, that when he comes and knocks they may open to him immediately. 37 Blessed are those servants whom the master, when he comes, will find watching. Assuredly, I say to you that he will gird himself and have them sit down to eat, and will come and serve them. 38 And if he should come in the second watch, or come in the third watch, and find them so, blessed are those servants.
