When a sinner gets saved it is possible for the sinner to look back at what God did and see these PARTS that make the whole of your salvation.
I. The Passion of the Saviour. vs.29-34
I. The Passion of the Saviour. vs.29-34
He sees the need. Vs.29-30
29 And forthwith, when they were come out of the synagogue, they entered into the house of Simon and Andrew, with James and John.
The action moves right along to a member’s house on Saturday afternoon.
Did you notice who is there?
30 But Simon's wife's mother lay sick of a fever, and anon they tell him of her.
Simon Peter’s mother-in-law. He was a married man.
Did you notice Who they called when something was wrong?
He meets the need. Vs.31-32
31 And he came and took her by the hand, and lifted her up; and immediately the fever left her, and she ministered unto them.
When someone is healed by the Master they can get back to a normal life.
Did you notice Jesus did not hit her in the top of the head, have her fall, orcome pay to see him at an arena?
32 And at even, when the sun did set, they brought unto him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with devils.
Notice they brought all the sick or possessed. Jesus turneed none away.
When will you come to Jesus?
He meets all the needs. Vs.33-34
33 And all the city was gathered together at the door.
Instead of getting a venue, they came to Jesus.
What drives you to gather: a chance for something for you or just to be with Him?
34 And he healed many that were sick of divers diseases, and cast out many devils; and suffered not the devils to speak, because they knew him.
Jesus did not allow the devils to speak.
Why do we allow the devils to speak to us?
II. The Praying of the Saviour. vs.35–37
II. The Praying of the Saviour. vs.35–37
The time of His prayer. V.35
35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
The reason someone goes out early to a solitary place is to get alone and pray. Dare we notice the times God wakes us up early to pray.
Do you set time to pray when there is no distractions?
The test of His prayer. V.36
36 And Simon and they that were with him followed after him.
”they that were with him” (9 times)
Genesis 7:23; Matthew 12:3; 27:54; Mark 1:36; 2:25; Luke 8:45; 9:32; Acts 5:17, 21
The touch of His prayer. V.37
37 And when they had found him, they said unto him, All men seek for thee.
”All men seek for thee”
III. The Preaching of the Saviour. vs.38–39
III. The Preaching of the Saviour. vs.38–39
Jesus has direction for His preaching. V.38a
38 And he said unto them, Let us go into the next towns,
No thought of how many, what type, etc. just the fact that they needed Him was enough.
Who gives you direction?
Jesus has vision for His preaching. V.38b
that I may preach there also: for therefore came I forth.
Notice that Jesus doesn’t say He is going for any other reason than to preach.
If Jesus puts that much emphasis on preaching then why do churches not place that same emphasis on it?
Jesus has people for His preaching. V.39
39 And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out devils.
Jesus not only preqached, but one has to wonder if there wasn’t a repeat of vs.21-28 in all these places.
Devils ran from Jesus’ preaching, do they run from yours?
IV. The Power of the Saviour. vs.40–45
IV. The Power of the Saviour. vs.40–45
He has power in His words. Vs.40-41
40 And there came a leper to him, beseeching him, and kneeling down to him, and saying unto him, If thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.
Notice the poor leper knows the Lord can heal him but knows He doesn’t have to.
Do you come to God expecting him to do what you say?
41 And Jesus, moved with compassion, put forth his hand, and touched him, and saith unto him, I will; be thou clean.
He has power over the wounds. Vs.42-43
42 And as soon as he had spoken, immediately the leprosy departed from him, and he was cleansed.
Notice just the words got the job done.
Do you depend on God’s words or on a show?
43 And he straitly charged him, and forthwith sent him away;
Jesus sent them away. When the Son of God sends you must go.
Have you been sent? Are you going?
He gives you power of will. Vs.44-45
44 And saith unto him, See thou say nothing to any man: but go thy way, shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing those things which Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.
Since they were under the law, the Lawgiver commands them to go and do what is required of the law.
Did you notice you are now under grace? Why then do you try and live under the law?
45 But he went out, and began to publish it much, and to blaze abroad the matter, insomuch that Jesus could no more openly enter into the city, but was without in desert places: and they came to him from every quarter.
Because of disobedience, Jesus was now crowded out of doing what He came to do.
Does your disobedience help you and hurt the work of the Lord?
