Daniel 2- Dreams of a king about THE KING

There is a biblical truth that we most come to recognize and it’s: that God is going to rule and reign! We must come to understand he is in charge now and will be later!

Psalms 22:28 “For the kingdom is the Lord’s: And he is the governor among the nations.”

Psalm 47:8 “God reigneth over the heathen: God sitteth upon the throne of his holiness.”

Jesus is going to rule and reign on this earth for 1000 years

Revelation 2:26-29 “And he that overcometh, and keepeth my works unto the end, to him will I give power over the nations: And he shall rule them with a rod of iron; as the vessels of a potter shall they be broken to shivers: even as I received of my Father. And I will give him the morning star. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.”

Isaiah 11:1-5 “And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, And a Branch shall grow out of his roots: And the spirit of the Lord shall rest upon him, The spirit of wisdom and understanding, The spirit of counsel and might, The spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord; And shall make him of quick understanding in the fear of the Lord: And he shall not judge after the sight of his eyes, Neither reprove after the hearing of his ears: But with righteousness shall he judge the poor, And reprove with equity for the meek of the earth: And he shall smite the earth with the rod of his mouth, And with the breath of his lips shall he slay the wicked. And righteousness shall be the girdle of his loins, And faithfulness the girdle of his reins.”

Our God reigns!

In this story we have a king who is quite powerful! He is actually referred to as a “king of kings”. Despite the highness and vaulted position of this king, God is higher!

Divine Revelation

Nebuchadnezzer had a dream and it deeply troubled him. He is so troubled that he even begins to lose sleep! As he begins to try and enlist help look how desperate he becomes

Calls upon all wise men, astrologers, and magicians

Willing to pay and promote

Willing to kill and destroy homes for it

1 - The lack of revelation made him lose rest

This dream disturbed the king

Even a man as powerful as him was still shaken

2- God had a solution and an answer for what the magicians and astrologers could not figure out!

Daniel 2:10 “The Chaldeans answered before the king, and said, There is not a man upon the earth that can shew the king’s matter: therefore there is no king, lord, nor ruler, that asked such things at any magician, or astrologer, or Chaldean.”

Daniel 2:11 “And it is a rare thing that the king requireth, and there is none other that can shew it before the king, except the gods, whose dwelling is not with flesh.”

Daniel 2:27 “Daniel answered in the presence of the king, and said, The secret which the king hath demanded cannot the wise men, the astrologers, the magicians, the soothsayers, shew unto the king;”

Gave thanks to God

Divine Rule

God gave meaning to what others couldn't

God is the true king

Daniel 2:28 “But there is a God in heaven that revealeth secrets, and maketh known to the king Nebuchadnezzar what shall be in the latter days. Thy dream, and the visions of thy head upon thy bed, are these;”

Daniel 2:37 “Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory.”

HE IS GOING TO RULE!

Daniel 2:45 “Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter: and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.”

Jesus- Matthew 21:44 “And whosoever shall fall on this stone shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.”
