Acts 2:42–46 NKJV
42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. 43 Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles. 44 Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common, 45 and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need. 46 So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,

Text:

Matthew 4:12 NKJV
12 Now when Jesus heard that John had been put in prison, He departed to Galilee.
John was in prison here, (as stated in the text.) according to the text:
John 3:30 NKJV
30 He must increase, but I must decrease.
Jesus Departed and went to Galilee.
Matthew 4:13 NKJV
13 And leaving Nazareth, He came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is by the sea, in the regions of Zebulun and Naphtali,

Zebulun and Naphtali These tribes were allotted territory in what became known as Galilee, but the Jewish population was largely displaced during the Persian period (ca. 550–330 BC). The inhabitants of Jesus’ day were mostly Gentiles (non-Jewish people) or descendants of Jews who had resettled in the region.

mainly gentiles are settled here.
Jesus starts His ministry among Gentiles.
John is in jail for telling truth to power and will actually he will loose his head for the truth he told making Him the first martyr of the kingdom.
Matthew 4:14–16 NKJV
14 that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: 15 The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles: 16 The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death Light has dawned.”
this is the fulfillment of Isaiah 9:1-2.
Isaiah 9:1–2 NKJV
1 Nevertheless the gloom will not be upon her who is distressed, As when at first He lightly esteemed The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, And afterward more heavily oppressed her, By the way of the sea, beyond the Jordan, In Galilee of the Gentiles. 2 The people who walked in darkness Have seen a great light; Those who dwelt in the land of the shadow of death, Upon them a light has shined.
God esteemed what the people did not.
Matthew 4:17 NKJV
17 From that time Jesus began to preach and to say, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Repent! I am here!

1) John is in prison for the proclamation of Harold's sin.

Luke 3:19–20 NKJV
19 But Herod the tetrarch, being rebuked by him concerning Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife, and for all the evils which Herod had done, 20 also added this, above all, that he shut John up in prison.
we live in a time that sin is not sin.
in the church we don’t recognize sin
we don’t recognize it in ourself.
we seem to be able to recognize it in others!
why is it we can point to those outside the Church, but the church does not desire to be a reflection of Christ?
is the point here that race, class, economics prowess, is not the point. the point is, the gospel goes out to the world.
in a post Christian world we need to remember that no sin is worse then another. when we too where sinners, vile in the eyes of God, but the sweet Holy Spirit drew me from the darkness of my sin! the drawing of the holy spirit, the blood of Jesus, the mercy of God the father, that’s why I’m here today.
2 Timothy 4:3–5 NKJV
3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine, but according to their own desires, because they have itching ears, they will heap up for themselves teachers; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. 5 But you be watchful in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.
before we light up on whatever your favorite TV or radio preacher has decided is sin of the week, when was the last time we went to a brother or sister in sin and talked to them before we put them on blast?
Dr. John MacArthur.

2. using the small things of the world to show His power

John 1:46 NKJV
46 And Nathanael said to him, “Can anything good come out of Nazareth?” Philip said to him, “Come and see.”
1 Corinthians 1:27 NKJV
27 But God has chosen the foolish things of the world to put to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to put to shame the things which are mighty;
God loves to use unlikely people to show himself great in. ‘
do I have some unlikely people in the room.
God wants to use you to do mighty things!

3) Jesus starts His ministry humbly and simply.

The Church triumphant!
