Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ u or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.”

5 He who was seated on the throne said, “I am making everything new!”

Our friend Dave has been made new. When I first met Dave, to be completely honest, I was a little afraid of him…it took me a while to be able to cut through the sarcasm and tough guy front. Once you got to know him you knew the truth…David was a big ole softy. His stone cold front that he would put on would melt away when he talked about Rocky his true love and Justin his great pride. He loved you guys so much. But the other tender side of David I exprienced came from his commitment and love for the next generation. He had a great desire to see all people come to know Jesus as lord and exprience his love but he especially felt that way about the next generation. One of the last times we spoke in the hospital he even told me he would be willing to help out with youth since I recently took over leading at our church. You see dave believed these worlds the apostle paul wrote in Romans 8.
Romans

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

The beauty of the faith that Dave had and that we are all invited to is this promise that Jesus makes to us in John...
John

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. 4

John 3:16-17

16 For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.

Again Jesus came into this world to save you and me, So we could have a better present and an ultimate future with Him, like Dave.
John

27 Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

John

25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?”

Jesus offers us hope not only for our entreaty but for our present life.
Now today and in the days ahead we grieve but we don’t grieve without hope and we do not grieve alone.
PSalm

18 The LORD is close to the brokenhearted

and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

Matthew

4 Blessed are those who mourn,

for they will be comforted.

Lets pray

1 The LORD is my shepherd, I lack nothing.

2 He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he leads me beside quiet waters,

3 he refreshes my soul.

He guides me along the right paths

for his name’s sake.

4 Even though I walk

through the darkest valley, a

I will fear no evil,

for you are with me;

your rod and your staff,

they comfort me.

5 You prepare a table before me

in the presence of my enemies.

You anoint my head with oil;

my cup overflows.

6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me

all the days of my life,

and I will dwell in the house of the LORD

forever.
